PS - I'm looking forward to taking a scenic drive next week through some beautiful countryside - a very green and verdant part of the world - not expecting much traffic - roads don't even have as many potholes as in many parts of the UK, so driving conditions good as some of the road has been recently resurfaced also - however the rest of the road needs resurfacing as there has been very little investment in road maintenance over the past decade, which is rather a shame for both motorists, motorcyclists, and cyclists alike.

I actually think that's not a bad idea - make cars last longer and governments would be more popular - because some people seem to have a brand new car every two years then it means other people can't get parts for their older cars (as the companies are too focused on producing new cars to bother making sure that you can still buy the parts needed to service their older models).

Mark you know as a car man what you do when a 40 year old Merc goes by, you stop and look at it, and then you say to yourself how did they know that would be such a classic even before they built it or sold it to the public, and yet when a forty year old Ford goes by that minute turns into something a good deal longer, you are reminded of an old tune or where you were 36 years ago and in my experience when i'm asked about my old Ford it always has a community feel to the meet in the street as they look it over and remember. So could you tell us the old Ford owners why you seem to be so embarrassed by these enigmatic vehicles, because here in West London when you see an old Ford it has the door stoved in the roof with the same shape dents and always the hardest panel to replace, and when you approach any Ford parts department for replacement parts there is always that slight sound of joy in the Ford mans voice when he states that we at Ford do not support old Fords and then asks you what your looking for as if doing a debilitation survey to see what's held up over the years and what is not lasting. So Mark once and for all how long does a new Ford stay on your books for parts support, 12 years 15 or 22. Lets have the truth are you making a throwaway product because no matter how well you look after your Ford car from new you still have to face the fact that it has a cut off date set by the manufacturer before even being sold to becoming obsolete because of the lack of any parts support. Am I on the mark there Mark. Oh! and by the way, my Ford oldie can still out-gun an SLK on Rownhams Hill, it just keeps on giving and i'm anything but embarrassed by my old Ford. Over to you Mr Clay we want an answer to the question, why we can no longer get our Ford parts here in the UK which as good owners are due as with any car manufacturer. A car is not a throw away item nor should it ever be, adopt that attitude and you might find your share of the market goes up with your own benevolence towards your product. . Yrs kk
