Canadian Gen. Share Price (CGI)

Be4c, the sp has for many years languished at a subtantial discount to assts. It is a holding to which there is always an excuse for an inestor to add when they have run out of ideas but wish to remain fully invested. The mangers are rooted in the notion to win yesterdays battle rather than pushing boundaries. Am tempted to add whenever my holding falls below 1% of my portfolio but more often than not resist.

Good defensive holding but adrift in a bull market

New here - taken the plunge ...

Because with the Discount to NAV 46%, decent recent performance, and with Dividend Yield 2.52%, I think I can handle an Ongoing Charge of 1.39% . Probably as Trump likely to be in TACO mode with Canada later if not sooner. Thing is, NAV and discount are not listed on HL summary pages ... so wondering whether the potential here is being hidden under a bushel??

As part of our tax planning, have decided to cash in SIPP holdings for self and wife and gift proceeds to children. Makes no sense not to make the gift now, initiate the 7yr rule and get a couple of years on the decision by Rachel from Customer Service to include SIPPs under IHT rules. The gift will form part of estate now but start to enjoy taper relief from 2028 at a lower rate than IHT.

'fraid that the imposition of tariffs are not going to provide a tailwind for the next few months, but once in the open, at least it is then a known rather than un-known matter.
