Agree. Don’t hold but watching closely also.

It had come a long way on the strong order book progression. Now translating into revenue growth. But needs it to translate into profit and cash to justify the rating I think. Probably one to keep the faith on, but can see why it's weak today. Expensive on current profit multiples, so needs upgrades really I think. Don't hold, but watching.

Gooch & Housego delivered a robust first half, with adjusted EPS rising 9.3% to 16.4p on revenue up 15.5% to £81.9m (9.1% organic, constant currency), as the photonics specialist's pivot toward Aerospace & Defence began paying off in earnest. The A&D segment was the standout, with revenue surging 51.7% to £35.6m and segment profit jumping to £3.6m from just £0.6m, reflecting the strategic value of the Phoenix Optical and Global Photonics deals alongside structural tailwinds from allied defence spending. Adjusted PBT rose 13.9% to £5.8m, though group margins crept up only marginally to 8.8% as Life Sciences slipped 7.7% on Pockels Cells material disruption. The record £167.3m order book provides near-full FY2026 revenue cover, with leverage at a manageable 1.5x. Management reiterated FY2026 expectations and the medium-term path to mid-teens returns, with Life Sciences disruption expected to ease through H2.
