RE: Once again Mony and RCH doing okToday 10:55
"Positive" is a strong way of putting it - "secure" would be a more accurate way of describing the mood on my team. It feels like Future is being quite open about the threat from AI, a lot of our town hall meetings and CEO newsletters revolve around the dent that Google AI overviews has put in the business. But also, the many ways we can mitigate - and the successes that various departments have had in mitigation, particularly editorial teams thay have had success maintaining site traffic. On the surface, AI seems like an existential threat to Future, especially to anyone who still considers it to be a publishing company. I've been with the company long enough to know that Future is proactive and has contingencies, and I feel that this is another storm Future will weather. Just over a decade ago the share price slipped to under £1, before Zilla turned the company around. Kevin Li Ying is a very different CEO, but he was Zilla's CTO who was a key figure in Future's growth.
A lot of generalisations there, speaking from personal feeling rather than anything else. I'm not worried about me or anyone on my team losing their job - rather, I feel that my role is evolving and I might end up working in a very different position, similar to the way Future has evolved away from publishing.
