GLOBAL MARKETS-Oil jumps after Iran's navy said it halted a US warship

"The market is being pulled in two opposing directions right now: on one hand, geopolitical risk is pushing oil higher and reviving inflation fears, but on the other, underlying growth especially in the U.S., is clearly softening," said Bruno Schneller, managing partner at Erlen Capital Management, a multi-family office.

This combination was driving some of the big market swings recorded in stocks, bonds and currencies, he added.

Bought these in ISA 8th April 2026 for 3383. ( they show a 1.74% gain on ISA platform )

Had sold WS Guinness Global Energy I Acc on 30th March .

Endeavour Mining order for 4700p deleted soon after as Gold price dropped .

That would of been the better buy up 6% to 5000 Friday 17th April when Gold gained after big oil drop .

Bought them later in the day that Wednesday 8th ( D ) share acc 4722p , sold back Friday 17th for 5000p

Spiked today as USA opened 2% before giving that back .

Heavy USA waiting .

Wanted to park some spare cash over long May bank holiday weekend .

This was safer as Iran war news can change over weekends .

Oil high and rising share prices .

Topped up a double traunch size for 2962p ( 9.30 am ) as all gold shares fell back this was showing 3% down ( ended up down 0.23 % on the day on brokers closing value )

Gold shares recovered from early lows .

Disappointing on the day as other choice Endeavour Mining was down 6% at 9.30am , but pulled up from that day low to end day 3% down .

So would of been up 3%

But more of a gamble . ( could of gone other way if Gold continued to fall )

Similar volatility to other shares over time .

Out performs Barrick Mining Corp over 5 years .

Its a good comparison share to check performance .

Similar performance to Endeavour Mining over 5 years .

Both not as good as Anglogold Ashanti over 5 years .
