Ramsdens Hldgs Share Price (RFX)

Sadly I sold all my Ramsdens shares in my ISA which was over 2% of the company to purchase shares in Sylvania Platinum. I did a similar trade a year or so before when I sold a significant holding of H&T to buy once again Sylvania Platinum shares. My obsession with Sylvania Platinum has cost me a lot of money if I had not done those trades I would have loadsoflolly now. I own just over 1% of Ramsdens outside my ISA hence my comment about paying lots of capital gains tax. If a shareholder owns over 1% of a company that is subject to a takeover approach the shareholder has to inform the stock exchange of your holding. Peter Kenyon kindly reminded me of that fact yesterday afternoon.

CJ66 - comparing H&T with RFX using enterprise multiples is apples & pears.

Like FirstCash, a large proportion of H&T’s revenues & profit came from pawnbroking. RFX on the other hand generates far more from its sales of gold, jewellery & watches. It’s far more difficult to predict long term value where gold’s involved, due to its historically volatile pricing.

FirstCash will doubtless have reflected this in its bid.

As I’ve said before, pointless saying £6.00 significantly undervalues RFX, when before the bid - even after multiple profit upgrades - the SP never reached £5.00. And normally traded in the low to mid £4 range.

Fincent - same here. CGT not an issue for me, as held in an ISA. Same applied to my (much larger) H&T stake. It really pays to use ISAs, especially for smaller, more speculative AIM shares where the unexpected is perhaps more likely to occur.

Not sure where IC (or whoever) got their facts about the proportion of IIs : PIs.

This link suggests otherwise > 78% IIs. Admittedly a few of the names listed might be holding some as nominees for PIs. But not the majority:

Sheffieldowls, my shares are held in my ISA so CGT is not a problem for me. That may be the same for the others who have commented.

I know from your previous posts that your vote will move the needle more than mine but it all adds up :)

The take out price is not enough when the issue of capital gains tax is considered I am surprised that I have not seen that in any of the postings.
