Good on you. According to my theory you are buying correctly on a rumour , one that that we mostly believe will become a fact. 130 140 150 whatever in that range, historically this is low by comparison with the past and far lower than the potential.

Trading volume high again today, if I were a short, I’d be running for cover, seems that some are, but what do I know, as a bull I seek long opportunities and GKP is a classic case for those that can risk the chance of being burnt.

The sell on the fact was clear on the pipeline closure @160 ish the buy on the rumour of a deal price ( in hindsight) was @ 126 / 143 As I mentioned at the time in my “strong buy post “ ( look back ) I did buy @ 143 / 133 Not the best but as I mentioned to you at the time I don’t possess foresight, only a gamers instinct and experience gained the hard way all too often.

Correction “ than being SHORT” this weekend

The market response is as should have been expected. Positive but not reflecting certainly.

So far so good on it’s way back up. As a risk trader I tend to buy on the rumour and sell on the fact, something that has yet to emerge, therefore I’m a long on hold. A far more comfortable position this weekend than being on a stock that is on the verge of a major correction.

Patience still required but the final ducks seem to be lining up.

If the latest reports are correct and it’s just a need to wait for the O.K from Turkey we should be able to assume that contracts with the oil companies have been agreed, ( why would they pump the oil for free ? ) it would have been nice to see an RNS or are they waiting for contracts to be signed.

Rudaw now reporting Iraq waiting for response from Turkey regarding their official request to resume Kurdistan oil exports.

It now seems that all technical problems have been resolved, hopefully including agreements with the oil companies, last cog in the wheel will be Turkey no doubt not wanting to pay fine no matter the outcome of their election.

While today’s posts are generally positive Re. a request to Turkey, and I don’t doubt that this is in the ‘pipeline’ so to speak. Today’s share price however tells a different story, and that’s a guide far more often than not, therefore could Turkey be hurdle that can’t be crossed this side of elections that are likely to progress to a second round. I’ll wait before I celebrate.

Yes shares will most often move in advance of news, inside information? I don’t know. However , I do know that GKP fell for no apparent reason, Friday as I recall, before announcement of the pipeline closure , Monday I believe.

As for shorts in GKP does that also require an equal amount of ‘longs’ like myself?

Patience required because the oil will flow again, at some point before GKP runs out of cash, and GKP will, most likely, be in a better position after all of this is history than they were before.

Latest Basnews report sounds encouraging, especially Re. 4 of the 5 companies given contracts, albeit oil ministry reports similar to others that were ‘false dawns’

I do wonder why Iraq p.m. would visit and not make a grand announcement, or are they still in Kurdistan negotiating?

As a share trader I tend to look at movement for clues and this week up until today signs were encouraging, now I’m wondering, again!

PUTUP.
I mentioned 6+ million shares as in a block listing, whatever that might be, and true I don’t know, nor do I care. ( I’m a simple high risk share trader buying into GKP following the pipeline closure, it’s just another opportunity that I’ve identified as a reasonable gamble ) I was of course referring to exactly what I said, directors share options, my point being that this is a valid way for executives to be rewarded as opposed to granting themselves massive salaries and contracts that include termination rewards if they are dismissed due to poor performance.

In the midst of the current uncertainty two things remain clear. 1. There’s a lot of oil and gas on the ground that GKP currently occupy. 2. There’s a lot of money that will be made directly and indirectly from extracting that oil, and probably the gas. The question is by who and when. We shall see, in the meantime our own directors are securing their future positions via an extra 6 + million share options.

Executive salaries have long been a bone of contention with ordinary share holders, often rewarding themselves handsomely even in the event of poor performance, bankers for instance. While granting themselves massive share options at a difficult time is insensitive to say the least, in the real World executives will always find ways to reward themselves and it’s better that they do so via an increasing share price than granting themselves a higher salary that they receive no matter what.
Equality in terms of wealth and privilege is a great concept but it doesn’t exist even in so called communist states and you won’t have to look too far this week to see how the privileged class spend their wealth while ordinary people struggle with inflation ( oil and gas in particular) in a disunited kingdom.

While waiting for the current situation to be resolved I’m wondering what the longer term future might hold.
In his comments regarding the Total 20 billion investment agreement the Iraq oil minister said that, at a time of political stability, ( by Iraq standards ) this should provide more confidence for the international investment community in other sectors of our economy. That being so I doubt that ditching 5 international oil companies at the same time would be wise. It ‘s also the case that Iraq do have the desire to become self sufficient in gas ( most of the Total investment) and I do believe that GKP were considering pumping gas back underground as opposed to burning it in their field development plans. Could they develop a gas field instead ? Or bring in a partner with that expertise ?
Having bought in here following the pipeline closure as a short term high risk trader I’m beginning to wonder if this might become a longer term investment opportunity. Foresight required but the ducks do seem to be lining up.

Same Same and so it goes on. In the meantime more than one billion dollars of production has been sacrificed while they argue about the distribution of dollars, some that should be ours.

Reuters now reporting Iraq oil minister’s statement that the pipe will open within 2 weeks. But also that they have yet to reach agreement with KRG.

GENL directors in contact with the government ( thus in possession of extra information) In theory any inside information they have and we don’t should have prevented their share purchase.
