I don't know if it's been mentioned today about the patent protection that Novacyt gained for what appears to be their single gene covid test . This will allow Novacyt to apply for patent box tax relief on this product,at a rate near to 10% instead of 19% and the claim can be back dated to when the application was first made in October 2020. Novacyt state that they will take any monies as a tax credit for future years. What percentage of sales do these tests make up over the last eighteen months?

Back in August 2020 Rishi Sunak was full of praise for It-Is-International. Fast forward three months to November and it was all about 50p Innova lateral flow tests that were being rolled for twice weekly testing of staff in the NHS.

Just to add Novacyt applied to trademark PROmate on 18/09/20 and then announced the launch on 16/11/20. It then took two and a half months till the beginning of February 2021 before the test was validated for use in the NHS. By then the original contract had finished on 28/01/21 and any surely supply of PROmate would be under new terms and conditions.

B2HS2L, thanks for the reply at 08.08 .I reckon your final sentence about working with the UKHSA is a distinct possibility. On January 8th I posted about the UK Field Application Specialist from Novacyt who appeared to have started working for the DHSC in October as a contractor. Shortly after this the job description was changed to a PCR kit developer . Early April I mentioned a senior civil servant who at the time was linked to the above operator. This link was removed rapidly.

Larry, I found this new job connected to the UK Health Security Agency. They are looking for a deputy director to build and lead the Healthcare Associated Infection, Fungal , Antimicrobial Resistance, Antimicrobial Usage and Sepsis Division. Sepsis and the Silent Pandemic are growing global problems that have been exacerbated by the covid pandemic . Whether Novacyt get heavily involved in this field we will have to wait and see , but I do know that DA spoke about AMR and fungal infections in his recent interview.

Are the tests being used to triage covid patients to help determine who is likely to develop higher levels of covid?

The evidence you posted clearly shows that in the last twelve days the 7 day covid death rate has nearly doubled from 1061 to 1951. Sadly this is the highest seven day figure since March 2021. Why is this happening ? Is it complacency among the older population after listening to the governments living with covid mantra or is the 6 months between vaccinations proving to be too long with the BA2 variant that is currently dominant?

I should have put all positive samples in Pillar1 are genotype tested.

Some more historic info from the Theyworkforyou website regarding the genotype testing of covid samples. Apparently in December 2021 15% of lighthouse lab samples (30,000) were being genotype tested each day and all samples in Pillar1 which is the NHS lab's. We know Novacyt where one four companies on the framework for supplying this type of test, but we've never been able find out what amount of sales have been made .

ak_gabba, I've just took a look at the latest ifu for PROmate and I see that Novacyt now have a new EU REP ( on page 2). They were using Emergo Europe as their notified body and appear to have switched to Advena . The big question is will this speed up the process of getting a product launched with all the regulatory regulatory hurdles.
