Nothing wrong with carpetbagging Contrarian, back in the day when all the building societies were demutualising I was king of the carpetbaggers! - opened up on 16 different building societies with my 100 quid deposit - they were sick of seeing me in London! - good business - bagged 9 of the players for a tasty profit between £800 and £1200 each - paid for a few holidays my friend - gl to all fellow carpetbaggers!

For me JDW will increase turnover due to the budget which has hammered all business - the fact remains that JDW competitors will have to increase the price of a pint just the same as JDW will - end result from this imo is that JDW customers will remain as it is still the cheapest but customers from other establishments may well opt for JDW as the price gets too unpalatable where they currently drink - I live in outer London and the local JDW pub is one of 5 in town - a round of drinks in 4 of them comes to roughly 24 quid - the same drinks in JDW comes to 18 quid - Christmas coming up - biggest quarter for retailers - I would be very surprised if this share is not north of 7 quid come q2 results day on the 22nd Jan -

I did say on Friday when I bought back in the p/e was too low - suiters obviously think the same - gutted I only bought 60pct of my original holding back now! - Citibank valued ITV Studios alone at 3b in Oct 22 - the rest must be worth circa 0.5b so 3.5b mcap with shares in circulation at just over 4b gives a share price at 87p payable -for a takeover there is normally a 30pct premium so 113p payable on the bid - looking forward to tomorrow -

Interesting - the gas price reversed a 5pct gain to a 5pct fall today - CNA still finished blue - good signs

Perusing the Christmas clothing offering online - it is flying off the shelves atm especially womanswear - in a month where retail sales for clothing bombed - augers well for MKS - Food will be bought in great quantaties from Marks - even people who don't shop in Marks buy their special occasion food items there - all adding up to a bumber Christmas guys - so glad I added to my holding at 360p - 4 quid on the cards pdq imho

Decided to buy back the shares I sold for 70.5p two weeks ago at 63.9p - a small tranche buy and will add on further weakness, for me the p/e is just too low now and it has shown signs of stability around 61p/62p - lets see

Sentiment firmly with CNA now with the energy price cap rising in Jan and the Gas price ever increasing (currently up 1.44pct as I am typing) - a retest of the 127p mark reached on the 21st Oct is now on mho - lets see

Natural gas prices are now back to the level they were in Nov 23 - at that time CNA share price was at 149p - agree with KUMS here, plenty more to go in a northerly direction

I suspect the drop here has been partly to do with the Kroger/Albertsons merger delay - a decision due I believe on the 26th Nov - will be interesting to see how this plays out - I have more funds to go in here but will wait for the outcome here first

Having bought tranches between 116p and 119p it is very nice to see a hard frost outstide boosting my current profit - plenty more upside here as the rads are turned up in the UK - with the divi banked as well for good measure - what do you reckon KUMS?

its hardly surprising that shorts are ruling the uk retail sector shares atm - the gov facilitated it with a budget that promoted the public sector and hammered the private - the sector which actually facilitates growth - i reduced my exposure to uk retail by around 30pct when the budget was announced so fair play to labour - they have now enabled me to carry out a short trade and buy the sold stocks back for a good discount - 14 years to think about how to grow the economy and they still ****ed it up

Maybe some buy in from funds today for the divi tomorrow - at over 7pct that is worth having and one of the major reasons I bought in here - lets see
