If Mike was to close his spread bet, I presume here would also be a RNS to disclose him crossing thresholds again? The drop today could be to do with this?

When Mike Ashley decides to close this spread bet, I am presuming that should also be disclosed by RNS? Albeit probably like 2-3 days later?

I'm just wondering whether he will decide to sell before ex-div date next week, considering this is just a 'bet' rather than purchase of shares, if I'm correct? Do spread bets get entitlement to dividends too?

Are we anticipating a steady share price increase leading up to Ex-div date? Still surprised the recent interest rate reduction didn't improve the share price here much either.

Firstly, Thank you all for knowledge and insights I have been reading over the past weeks, this board is such a calming influence compared to other boards!

Secondly, there was previous mentions of short options in USA expiring, some today and some last week. Can anyone direct me if there is any further significant negative shorts expiring in the coming weeks? Do we think this rise is due to these shorts closing or sentiment driven from Boris?

Sorry - just to further clarify then - on 12th November, will this just suddenly adjust from 160p to 61p at the start of the trading day (or what ever the adjustment for ex rights is). Meaning no real chance to short the stock down to new price?

I was fully expecting this share price to fall from now to the rights issue date and then further on to execution date of rights issue.

£2 per share - after rights issue = 71p average
£1.50 per share - after rights issue = 59p average
£1 per share - after rights issue = 48p average
50p per share - after rights issue = 36p average

Are we expecting a big plummet in the share price between 23/10/2020 - 11/11/2020? Otherwise surely it is worth exericisng the rights, then selling immediately after with your new lower average, which in turn isn't doing the company any favours?

I have a long position at £3.54 unfortunately, but this issue will bring my average down to £1.06.

Ok, then most people will go option A on 22/10/20.

Lets say you buy 3 shares at £1 on 22/10/20.
Then purchase rights issue on 10/11/20 - 10 shares at 0.32p.
New average cost of £0.48 ((3x1)+(10x0.32))/13

Lets say between 22/10/20 and 11/11/2- the share price drops to 60p.

You then still make profit of 12p per share if you then sold stright away.

Or am I missing something?

Nil paid rights? Is this part of the agreement to purchasing the rights issue? You effectively agree to increase your rights issue price by the people not willing to participate?

Can someone clarify that you are able to purchase the rights issue and then subsequently sell these shares the very next day/hour/minute?

If so, then I'm very confused as to why the share price is continuing to increase, as at its current price (160ish) you would have an average of 0.62p after the issue of Rights issue, so its effectively just free money. Even at 50p a share you would have an average of 0.36p, so again, easy money if you can sell straight away.

Please can someone explain what I am missing here..
