depends how products are transported. Anything going by boat has been made a lot more difficult in my understanding. a lot of ports not allowing ruskie stuff..shortage of containers..issues with insurance due to sanctions etc etc
India's ONGC is already struggling to transport oil due to a number of factors

china's state refiners are honouring existing oil contracts with russia but avoiding new ones despite discounts - china is in a tricky position and if the russians don't think they will get dumped on if it suits beijing then they better wake up

agree with pandamonia that russia was struggling to get microchips and software before sanctions - so that has only been made worse

the war is going to affect everyone negatively in terms of economics. russia may end up being more robust that the west anticipated but they will suffer

the sanctions will end up hurting the west as much as the russians. after the damage to the economy from covid this will probably trigger a mother of worldwide recessions
the russians are still going to suffer badly and it is not so easy to shift large amounts of product to a new market. even from a simple logistics point of view. it takes time. i would also question their ability to sell product at a premium - anyone willing to buy off them will know they can get a bargain. if you look at india it has ramped up its oil purchase from russia but it in no way compensates the loss in other areas. the indians are also getting a good discount and the russians are just glad to get something

cool - i am not saying he is right. but it serves no purpose in casting him as a nutter and dismissing him as such. he is only doing what many others would do and have done throughout history. much better to try and understand him and then you can possibly deal with him - as when he is gone there will be another somewhere

I think it is easier for the west to portray Putin as a psycho nutter etc etc..than face the reality that it is the norm with old skool empires. There are so many countries that if they had the power would be doing similar..
It seems it is harder to accept that the peace and prosperity enjoyed by the west is the anomaly in the world and in history.
Rather than learn the lessons and see how good things have been and still are ...so much so that we now have to create issues over microagressions and non binary wars etc to replace existential threats.

The whole Ukrainian issue should be a wake up call that we have things pretty good and be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Big blue - there are some interesting parallels with ww2. Especially at the start of this event with Russia looking at UK appeasement and USA isolation . However things have moved on . So some things are not the same.

If Hitler had been faced with UK and USA together would he have continued ?

Ww2 is a very complex thing ..if you want to look at another facet ...Britain entered the war supposedly to protect polish sovereignty and when the war ended was happy to give it away to Russia.

The danger is that the more the west get involved the more neither side wants to lose face and back down.

Russia could not win a traditional war against NATO ..so there is the terrible threat of nukes.

Quite honestly ...the west should stop giving arms...let the Ukrainians give up Donbas for peace..and lets get peace.

Putin has learnt a lesson and Like all bullies will not risk a slap with more advancement . Ukraine had this on the cards the moment they gave u their nukes.

it is a good question. They knew the results in advance of the presentation - and from what I saw there was no immediate need for those purchases on the back of that presentation. it seems to me that they have not even decided the directions they are going in. the purchases came after bio had increased their holding and my bet would be it was a reaction to any move that bio are cooking up.

i am hoping bio see something in ncyt potential more clearly than DA - and have a market and product in mind to exploit whilst DA waffles on with the usual buzzwords

i agree in numbers not words - especially when it comes to DA!

I don't mind if this year is a break even year - perfectly acceptable in the transition from covid. with the cash we have we are still in a great position. though of course some may be needed to pay off dispute in the very worst case scenario

now putin may have miscalculate the ukrainian resistance and possibly the reaction of the west - but he knew what he was doing and what he wants to achieve

the trouble is he can't afford to lose...and ukraine dont want to. whilst the west keep supplying arms this war will continue. ukraine will be reduced to rubble and we will creep towards nuclear conflict.

when ukraine gave up their nukes they opened this door. without the help from the west this would probably be over. however the reality is that at some point this war needs to end or we will be in danger of the mother of all recessions or worse

true. however just having had an operational update - i think it is unlikely that any news will come in the immediate future. with the possible exception of bio transactions. if there were M&A on the immediate horizon then DA could/should have said he was in currently in discussions at the moment and will update as soon as he can
