Till the evil of corruption is not effectively eradicated from many EM economies, no serious investor should consider that market.

India is not an investment location for the fainthearted. Its future direction very much depends on the cold war between US and China. If China prevails as a winner of that war, India's prospects will evaporate pretty quickly. I, therefore, view India as a high risk economy for an individual to invest in.

Anyone else optimistic for the future of India? I'm invested here, not a lot, but enough to have made a nice gain over the last two years.
India and Vietnam are my two big hopes for gains in the East. I also have the Shin Nippon trust and have recently exited China as I found that the government is interfering too much in the markets.
India has a great entreprenurial spirit, not just within its own borders. Its citizens show it wherever they emigrate to begin a new life.
Of course India has its problems with poverty, poor sanitation, the caste system and corruption. However, I feel that the ever burgeoning middle class is its great hope on the route to wealth and power.
