Ashoka India Equity Investment Trust Plc Share Price (AIE)

I think the recent China strength has hit Indian sentiment and possibly the yearly redemptions facility has hit this trust however India is one of the only big nations growing at a real 5-10% yearly clip so this is a decent buy here especially at this rare discount to NAV.

Historically this has traded slightly above NAV. Any ideas as to why it hasn't the past few days?

FYI. I only had a small stake, 2517 shares but thought I'd give the redemption a little tickle just for curiosity. Tendered 517 shares, got paid today £1483.84, doesn't divide exactly 5p out from 287 a share. Don't know when they fixed the price and it is within the 1month range so maybe just pot luck. Bought them back today at 280, commison free trade but stamp duty so just enough for a Chinese takeaway and a bottle of wine round these parts. It was just curiosity. More important, the fact that they do this means the discount to NAV is always liable to be small because shareholders will have the option. Not heard of this before because fund managers on a %age don't always put shareholders interests top of their priority list. I think the tender, written into the atrticles, is brave and honest. Good nluck to them. And no, I probably won't have a litte dabble next year despite the free Chinese this year.

Where do you get that opinion from mate? It's outperformed the Nifty by about 50% over the past 5 years. It seems to be consolidating a little which seems healthy, it's an expensive country and I think the Indian equities just need to consolidate a little here.
