NHS staff have been told to prepare for potential Ebola cases reaching the UK amid a fast-growing outbreak of the deadly virus in Africa.

In updated guidance, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has urged hospitals, GPs and frontline services to ensure they are ready to rapidly identify and isolate suspected patients, warning that while the risk to Britain remains low, imported cases are possible.

Healthcare providers have been instructed to check they have adequate supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure staff are trained in its use, alongside clear protocols for managing suspected cases.

Clinicians are being reminded to consider Ebola in any patient who is acutely unwell with a fever and has travelled from affected regions within the past 21 days, reflecting the virus’s incubation period.

Under the guidance, suspected cases must be treated urgently, with patients isolated immediately in a single room and assessed by staff using appropriate protective measures.

Strict infection control procedures are required, and cases must be escalated rapidly to specialist public health teams, as Ebola is a notifiable disease in the UK.

The warning comes as an outbreak of the rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola continues to spread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and neighbouring Uganda, after being declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organisation in May.

The latest figures suggest there have been hundreds of suspected cases and dozens of confirmed deaths, with numbers continuing to rise as testing and surveillance improve.

It's also worth pointing out that Helium is priced at up to 50 times the price of LNG in liquid form and is one of THE most expensive industrial gases. The current annual global demand for helium is 6.6 Bcf and spot contract prices can range between $650 and $3,500 per thousand cubic feet (Mcf). The current market is $7 Billion USD and rising. So, as you quite rightly point out "what's not to like!". GEX investors are in the right sector right time etc.

Yes, Gheko, it's all about getting your entry price right. I bought in to HE1 at 0.26 and sold a big chunk at at 2.4p. A x 9. I still have a free float on HE1 now from that purchase price. I bought in to GEX at 3.1p and fully expect 25p at least this year. This is a risk reward share with huge upside if you are buying at these prices. We all know GEX has already hit 10p this year.

Yes, people writing off the possibility of another serious NCYT share gain would be wise to remember the last Ebola and Covid gains. Many of us did very nicely indeed on the back of those gains during what was an awful situation for those impacted by the diseases. If the Ebola cases continue to rise globally then NCYT's kit, which is designed to have a broad detection profile, will be back in demand. For those that don't know the NCYT primers detected over 95% of the last Ebola virus. i.e. they have the proven kit that Government's will want. So, if the current outbreak sadly continues to gain traction and the WHO communicate further concerns there will be an opportunity for NCYT to win contracts. One to watch.

A reminder that Gold is to be mined later this year by MEGA. i.e. ORCP will then have the status of being a producer and not an explorer. Looks like 10p+ a share is still on here short-medium term and much much higher over the coming years on those bpd numbers. Which major isn't going to want to buy in to this now? Yes, which major player isn't going to want to do a JV with such high recordings of helium? Commercial production typically requires helium concentrations between 0.04-0.35%. HE1 has reported today that it is looking at helium concentrations of over 9% at the Itumbula West-1 well. This is way way way above 0.04-0.35%!! Remember that when GGP announced its JV its share price soared. We could be approaching that tipping point soon. Industry off takers will be all over this now. The first we will know about commercial terms will be when a JV is confirmed. That will be a huge day for HE1 investors. A quick reminder that GGP went fom 0.65 to 30p+ with its JV.

Yes, watch out for a stonking JV deal with a major helium player on the back of the 9.2% announced today. This is a huge number in the sector. I'm expecting Linde, Exxon, Messer, APD, Siemens, Air Liquide, Helium24 etc to all be interested. They will all have been watching developments at Itumbula West closely. We know that early discussions with potential partners and offtakers have been going on behind the scenes, according to Lorna Blaisse and according to the RNS today that is the next official step.

A move by Glencore or Trafigura is another possibility too. GLEN would certainly be a good JV partner or suitor for the 2 helium plays in Tanzania and Colorado. Plus, Trafigura is building a very successful global commodities business, especially in the minerals, metals, and energy sector. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see one of these two major players doing a deal with HE1 very soon.

Over at Palantir you just have to look at how big the deals are becoming with the US Department of Defense to see the huge potential for ALRT. Last summer the company signed an up to $10 billion contract with the U.S. Army to support its software and data needs. Palantir also signed a $448 million deal with the U.S. Navy in December. If we get a small slice of that from the UK’s MOD / public sector the share price for ALRT will have a £ sign in front of it. This is a 5 year+ investment and the gains could be spectacular based on what we’ve witnessed at Palantir.

Just think of the bigger picture and the future potential share price of ALRT. eg t. Right now, investors are paying 74x earnings for Nvidia.

Yes and whilst everyone is looking in the direction of Zambia there's also the Storuman project in Sweden to factor in. News on that is apparently due in March. It is a large fluorspar deposit containing 2.3 million tonnes of recoverable, open-pit mineable, fluorspar. Stourman could be massive news for TYM in 2026 too!

Yes and big gains do happen in this sector in particular. ALTN went x 10+ for me over the last 18 months and I can see the same happening here at TYM in the same time frame. We might be just weeks away from very very big news.

Big news from TYM confirming today that its Exploration Target is planned to be released in the coming weeks. CEO quote below from RNS:

"We are delighted to report these results from the four holes of our Phase 3 drilling programme conducted at the start of the rainy season late last year. These results include our best intersection of silver-copper mineralisation to date on this project, with 97m at 85 g/t silver equivalent (1.42% copper equivalent) from only 6m depth. In addition, this also includes our best higher-grade copper intersection to date: 13m at 77 g/t silver and 1.46% copper (2.80% copper equivalent) from 84m downhole. These results have also further tested the depth extension of mineralisation, with our longest silver mineralisation intersect to date from 6m below surface to 103m depth (vertically).

"These results further support our bulk tonnage, open pit silver exploration model and the target area remains open to the northwest, south/southwest and at depth. These results will now be incorporated into the on-going JORC Exploration Target work to provide an estimation of the range of tonnages and grades for Target A1.

"The Exploration Target is planned to be released in the coming weeks and will form the basis of future planned programmes to commence at the start of the dry season this year and will support our aim of producing a Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate by the end of 2026.

Highlights from the RNS:

The laboratory analytical results indicate further high-grade silver and copper mineralisation in the north of Target A1, which has a mineralisation footprint of 450m by up to 400m wide area, and remains open to the northwest, south/southeast and at depth.
