A bit of harmless fun seems to have generated far more discussion than I expected.

Nobody claimed it was a shareholder census. It was simply a way of engaging with the silent readers, and 65 people were happy to join in.

Some saw the fun in it. Two others chose to complain about it. Different strokes for different folks.

The only thing I'd say is that not every post needs to be turned into a debate. Sometimes a bit of harmless fun is just that.

We can disagree on the investment case and still keep the board enjoyable.

Why is asimpleinvestor hated so much on these forums?

Sixty-five people isn’t much when you consider the total number of shares issued, unless you’re suggesting each holds 38 million. As the company grows, so will the share count, we’re only at the first step, haven’t even crossed the first milestone, and we’re already at 2.47 billion shares There’s nothing negative about sharing facts, only the perception of negativity from those who refuse to accept them.

Of course I don't believe a few ticks measure the total level of interest in a share, and I never claimed they did. It was just a bit of fun and a way of encouraging people to engage with each other.

As for "virtually nobody reads these boards", this little exercise actually showed that at least 65 people were happy to participate when previously we had no idea they were there.

If interest in the company grows and a similar exercise is repeated in the future, it gives us a simple benchmark to compare against. It's hardly scientific, but it is an indication.

It's also worth noting that far more readers were happy to join in than, like yourself, felt the need to make negative noise about it. A glass-half-empty person comes to mind.

Do you seriously believe somebody ticking a post gives a measure of interest in a share. Virtually nobody reads these boards and only a tiny proportion of the greater market even knows of its existence. If you're under the misguided belief most investors are here to ticj a post then we should be seeing a raft of TR-1's come Monday opening.
