''Well Lloyd's have been a basket case now for about 10 years. I bought in at £1 and still holding 100,000 shares''
It's been about 13 years since Lloyds was about 100p - pre rights issue - so you either took up the rights at 37p thereby reducing your average or you sold the rights and thereby reducing you overall capital outlay.
petere:-
i am in the same boat ,i bought roughly 10 years ago at 76p but with dividends and buying a few more i have lowered that to 70p and i bought over 3 times your holding , heres hoping things pick up
Your best bet is to wait till it has gone up substantially, then sell, and rebuy cheaper. Slowly by slowly you will lower your average share price.
I've been doing it through lockdown and have lowered by average share price by 12p so far, same cash, just more shares.
Well Lloyd's have been a basket case now for about 10 years. I bought in at £1 and still holding 100,000 shares. I will probably not be above ground when the do recover !
Hi Tally,
I don’t hold it for a set price like Falky does. I sell progressively as each position hits my mentally set profit target. Then as it retraces, I buy those positions back. Sometimes it doesn’t retrace enough to buy.....
Now down to 1.5 million shares. Currently banking around £3k a day as profits.
Make hay while the sun is shining.
Good luck everyone
My auto correct again....
Crown jewels ... I meant
:-)

I agreed
Funny enough when I started to oin this 10 months ago some people where telling me Lloyds and BP are not exciting !! And I always said they go slow but when the time comes they will catch up fast purely because of excellent fundamentals they had....and exactly what happen here including RR which together are one of my biggest hold after ATYM ( which is my crown jwelel )
I have collected divi on both and not sold a single share and just added on any weakness with the pure strategy of being a long termer.
Shorter moves means nothing to me...
I am after 70p (at least ) before I even revise my position here
As you said I truly believe we will get that by next March/April

IMHO
We are leaving 2021 Lloyds just got back to pre Covid levels of 64p
Looking into 2022 we could be looking at 74p by Easter
Special dividend and buybacks to look forward to .

The British Pound will once again try to break some key levels against the Dollar having suffered a string of failures to do so over recent days.
The key focus for markets at present is the intention of the Bank of England to raise interest rates again by as early as December, or early 2022.
This tends to raise the cost of finance throughout the economy and increases the yield paid on UK financial assets, which in turn attracts foreign investor capital which in turn bids up the Pound.

the bankers do like a bonus , i always remember a friend of mine working on a house in a private estate in Sevenoaks and i said that guy must have a few quid to buy this certain house , he said he just bought it with his end of year bonus cash after tax 800k 20 years ago , city trader for one of the banks
The UK is set to keep the EU’s cap on bankers’ bonuses, with the Treasury instead focussed on a range of other measures to shake up financial services regulation post-Brexit
