How many shares are currently in free float, from memory after the last buyback there were around 63.4 billion shares. In today's RNS it is mentioned to purchase no more than 67billion shares. Not sure which figure is correct.
It might be a longshot, but I expect the share price to be sub 40p once the buybacks stop around oct/nov. Ready to wait and invest with dividend money. If the SP does not go below 40p then would be in cash rather than invest here.
I am glad just the dividend was cancelled and restored to some level. So many companies have disappeared without a trace Afren, Carillion, Evraz, Essar, Ruspetro, Sirius Minerals etc. Cineworld is on a downward spiral. Glad to have survived with Lloyds, albeit with losses and yet to breakeven.
Lti, Not as straightforward as you suggest. They could easily have given 0.5p special dividend which would translate to roughly £350million ~ £400million. Even with this Lloyds would be left with £1.6 billion buyback. However not giving special dividends and keeping the dividends even below the symbolic 1/3 interim & 2/3 final tells the Shareholders something.
"Lloyds Banking stays tight-lipped on dividends and buybacks so what is it planning?"
The narrative regarding dividend has changed significantly after the change of management. Quarterly dividends retracted & no mention of buybacks in Q3.
"a slap in the face for all those shareholders deprived of the 'announced' 2019 divi - snatched away when it looked like the bank may be in trouble - but not returned as that risk fades"
doesn't seem to be a coincidence that there was a change in the board during covid and we are bac lk to square one.
"I expect a substantial dividend announcement on the 24th February 2022, during the Full year results."
The half yearly dividend of 0.67p was a masterstroke to reign in shareholder expectations after the restrictions were removed. All the expectations of retained dividends being released does not align with bod plans...drip release of dividends would be more realistic expectation.
