Bumper results are expected on 11th July.
If shorts continue to close before then hopefully 1500p is a realistic target for July.

Hoping you are correct.
From the trading update on the 24/4:
“The Group will announce its Preliminary Results for the year ended 31 March 2024 on 11 July 2024 at which point it will provide a fuller outlook for the all-important Summer 2024 trading period.”
Not long to wait now, do we think we’ll see a lift ahead of 11/7?? Is Jet2 having a good summer? Surely with the uk weather to date, families will want to get away!

May was quite tough as predicted at last update. Load factors now improving and prices holding up well.
I expect a positive update during July to push up to 1500 and beyond.
I’m hoping today marks a turn around to a northerly direction for airlines. I’m invested here and EZJ So some price improvements would be welcome.
I flew JET2 to Madeira recently (flight only) and it was a friendlier experience than EZJ I have to say.

Not effecting Wizz ar all . Year high
A steady recent decline in the sp, it seems to me, is entirely caused by two very nasty Wars taking place with little sign of any positive resolution. Plus elections taking place, causing uncertainty, especially as the electorate has to chose between two sets of liars and spivs in the UK.. Good times we live in !
Thanks for input.
Jet2 is in its normal routine of movement, within 2 to 3 weeks i can see this back over 1400p. Its cash position is very good, airlines are trending up (bar the Israel war escalating ).
The strategy is to pay "a modest dividend whilst seeking to re-invest the majority of cash generated in growing the business" (quote from FY results). So that's the business model, not dissimilar to many other companies at this stage in their growth trajectory, and I think it's well understood and already factored in by the market.
Share price grew c.50% in just six months recently, broadly in line with many other well performing companies in the wider market. I think the reversal in the last two months is more to do with wider macro sentiment, results and comments from peer companies (in between updates from Jet2 so nothing here yet to counter them), and the pushing back of when rate cuts are likely (vs the absurdly optimistic suggestions that triggered the broader uptrend at the end of last October).
Compare the easyJet chart for the last year to Jet2 and it's very similar. For broader sector comparison then Ryanair, Wizz, Tui, OTB - all have similar themes in their patterns (once you strip out any 'noise'), so I don't personally think there's evidence to indicate it's down to Jet2's dividend policy.

Two 100k+ interesting late buys, maybe its because its dropped below 1300p. Play makers with deep pockets or maybe they just know.

Theyre a bit boring at the minute compared to others . U
I think we just need a good set of results and an upbeat starement .
Wizz have certainly benefited from it
So many good shares in my Portfolio but I stare at this one and wonder why. Feels like Jam tomorrow. May have to strike this one off and go with something reliable.
Just looking same time last year .
£13 around june 6th falling to around £11 going towards july 11th then rose 10% up to £1224 july 20th bedore falling back to a low of 991 around oct 20th. Long steady Rise from there up to the 7th april 292r to £15.11.
Hopefully doesn't follow the same pattern as we are around similar start price
I think any details on Q1 and also the promised summer outlook will be key, last year's results already trailed as being solid and middle of expectations.
They have followed a similar pattern to previous years with a trading update in April ahead of FY results, so not expecting another update before then.
Quite right Swingman.
I have Thursday 11th July pencilled into my diary - that's when Jet2 releases the preliminary results for the year ending 31 March 2024.

They're not 'sells', despite what this website tries to guess. They're the Uncrossing Trades from the closing auction - so buyers and sellers both matched together at the price that clears the maximum number of auction trades off the book.
They happen at the end of every day, and sometimes during the day, on almost every large company listed on the stock exchange. Not of any great interest but they do set the official closing price so can sometimes direct what happens at open the next day.
Any one got any thoughts on the big sells? Another 5m trade gone through today

737-800 a well Proven Horse.
Edinbru goes Airbus end of this year
I wonder if Jet2 is being impacted by the Boeing effect, considering that Boeing (although NOT THE MAX!!) make up the majority of the current fleet. Alongside oil rises, could be a factor in the price movement at the moment.
At least until a trading update is released, it could be one explanation.
Been watching this for a while. Can't make out the sp movement vs the company's economics. What abour the thesis that most people book holidays early in the year so it rises in Q1 then falls in the summer as new bookings fall off?
Not sure why the daily drop, but somethings going on in the background it seems.
For sure a great company, easily a buy at these prices. £20 plus pre pandemic, now with more cash and assesets than back in 2020 and larger market share, no brainer

I have waited 11 years fir my IAG shares to get back into profit. Decided to cash a few in today and move back into Jet2. Hope to see 1500p again before the end of the summer
Easyjet pilots voted to reject a pay rise - which could lead to strike action.
“We are well-positioned for the summer. The high demand for travel is a continuing trend” IAG’s chief executive Luis Gallego.
British Airways owner IAG predicts summer boom as profits climb.

Nearly all British airlines are being shorted at the moment apart from Jet2.
Hedge funds rarely dare to short Jet2 because of their huge cash pile.

Well I disagree, a buyback for cancellation would be money well spent
Jet2 can easily afford a £billion for a special dividend or a but back, but are doing a better job by reinvesting in the business and increasing profits considerably every year IMO.
Or a decent dividend
C'mon guys there is too much cash on the balance sheet, lets shrink the share capital a bit - lets get away from a near 100% focus on new hubs and new aircraft

Also topped up today
Jet2 has the most reliable models of aircraft and engines .......trade on very low multiples and have a huge pile of cash. There profit margin and growth are probably the highest in the industry. There's no reason for this share to trade at the current price IMO.
I've doubled my Jet2 holding. I still think it'll cross £20 before christmas.
Market contagion, everyone got hit when the bots warmed up. Expect it will settle down soon enough.

"Year ending 31 March 2024 (FY24)
On sale seat capacity for Summer 2023 is currently 7.2% higher than Summer 2022 at 15.26m seats. Forward bookings to date remain encouraging, with the mix of Package Holiday customers representing just over 75% of total departing passengers and 5ppts higher than Summer 2022 at the same point. In addition, average load factors for Summer 2023 are currently 0.7ppts ahead of Summer 2022."
"Year ending 31 March 2025 (FY25)
On sale seat capacity for Summer 2024 is currently 12.3% higher than Summer 2023 at 17.1m seats. The season is 55% sold, with average load factors 1.0ppt ahead of Summer 2023 at the same point. Forward bookings for package holiday customers are up by 13% and we are also seeing healthy demand from flight-only passengers for which bookings are currently up by over 18%. Consequently, the package holiday mix of total departing passengers is 74% and 1ppt below last year."
As reported " Since February, we have taken delivery of a further two new CFM powered A321neo aircraft from Airbus in line with our agreed delivery schedule, with both paid for from our own cash reserves."
In addition they will have paid to block book hotel accommodation for the summer season, which will be recouped from customers ..The bit of the RNS which has prompted the selloff is this "although recently, pricing has been more competitive, particularly for April and May departures."ie they are probably cutting prices...
It's the nature of travel businesses. They have to deploy more cash in the holiday season. The bottomline is that cash has been growing. You just have to compare it with the same period with the previous year. Make no mistake it's a very well run business with an extremely solid balance sheet.

I agree they are a good airline, that is priced in - the issue is the volatile cash level
Yes, you are quite correct, my error. It does say that they are the 6th and 7th of the type to be delivered and i am not sure when the other 5 were delivered or how they were paid for, but otherwise I have no idea and it is a very good question as it is some cash burn.
I have always been an independent traveller, but I have used Jet2 in recent years and found them to be an excellent organisation.
Own cash would have been around £1.6bn compared to around £1,1bn last year if they didn't pay for the new aircrafts .
At the end of summer cash pile will be much bigger again. It's a seasonal thing.

Yeah but the world is drastically different to 2019 - co's have to hold more cash, the price of debt has rocketed
Guidance maintained within range but anything that's not a 'beat' in the current market gets overly punished. I also recall discussing last summer after the FY results were published that the lack of forward guidance, which they gave valid reasons for, may have contributed to the drop. Same applies today for similar reasons, a fuller outlook now to be given in July.
Whilst I agree in theory, Jet2 has never done a special dividend or share buyback -
I'm happy with the update. Profits up 33% and from bookings and seat capacity increse it seems there will be a similar in crease in profits this year too. This is the best stock in the aviation sector IMO.
Agree, the own cash position is drastically different to where is was pre-covid, cash including customer deposits is same than the market cap and the £1.3bn of own cash is way bigger than anything they have had before (2019 it was around £60-70m). Wonder what they will do with it all, a special div or buyback would seem sensible whilst putting the rest to work investing in the business. 13% capacity increase should drive an upgrade through the year irrespective of the wider environment
Last post: Jsmyth993, 24 Apr 2024 10:37
Just reread them and think it's the competitive pricing comment and uncertainty around full year guidance contributing to this
Still think all the fundamentals are great and surely the best UK airline currently. Economic moat through dominating many regional airports, Leeds for example. We flew with them last week and couldn't fault them.

Thanks !!
A trading update is due soon, we'll know how things are.
Jet2 is heavily invested in Turkey, punters tend to avoid travelling further east than Spain when things escalate.
The Gulf War was a total disaster for the travel trade resulting in Intasun the major tour operator going bust.
Jet2 has no business in the Middle East. iIt's a tour operater which has it's own airline and books holidays for within Europe. Jet2 also has a policy to hedge most of its fuel requirements well in advance so oil price rises shouldn't affect it much either IMO.
Further escalation in the Middle East will spell disaster for all travel shares.

Jet 2 have announced that they will be opening their 12th base at Bournemouth Airport with the 1st flight due to depart to Tenerife 01 April 2025. 2 aircraft will initially be based there offering 27 flights per week. Great to hear of further expansion especially into a relatively wealthy, underserved catchment area.
