I've been looking up the various Nature of business categories and hope it has someting to do with IM and they are not going into windturbines as well.

For a company " focused on strategic infrastructure projects and physical asset lifecycle management" they seem to be developing a bit of scattergun approach to business.

Looking at some of the recent "ventures" they have proposed, that is.

Can understand the tugs and work boats and even the fishing boats. If they have time and capacity in the yards between other work. One off bespoke barges for comapny use, maybe. But haulage??

Just do one thing, do it well and make some money.

Did hear that there maybe something coming down from one of the Scottish yards to be worked on here.

Can't offer any more other details on that , but barges not mentioned.

Something about waiting on chippies for one of the m55's. But also heard that one of them was apparently heading to Belfast at some point to be worked on. Again not sure which one.

Being GRP, I get the feeling that they are not very popular with the traditional grey bearded metal shipbuilding types who just want to get on and build something "proper".

Saw that they have finished the"frame" for BAE.

So what's next? Barges for everyone?

"Fabrication will take place at the Harland & Wolff Belfast site, with first steel being cut within approximately eight weeks' time. The programme schedule allows for four barges to be built in tandem, with the entire build programme ending around Q2 2023."

So, "ending around Q2", leaves a bit of wriggle room, I guess. ;)

"The first major milestone for this contract has now been reached. The client has approved the hull and this will now pass into the painting hall prior to its delivery later in Q1 2023. The second barge will also soon be completed, whilst the next two are also well advanced. The work being undertaken on these barges has supported the facility in advancing vital shipyard skills which will be required for the Fleet Solid Support warship programme. Fabrication is now being conducted simultaneously on all barges throughout the production hall with numerous work stations set up and the project team tracking progress on a daily basis with the newly implemented IFS ERP Projects Module."

Second barge was deliverd last Friday. Four months later the next two that were "well advanced", only one looks like it's nearly ready. Unless there are hiding them somewhere else.

Guess they will have it nailed by the time they start on a proper ship.
