FYI. Scaffolding is essential in most construction industries. Ship building would be no different, imo.
Working safely, at ever increasing height, as something gets built up would be the same for a ship as it would a house.
Hiring towers or gettting scaffolders in, with their own kit is okay for short term projects, but owning your own is an absolute bonus. I do, to a small degree, as it saves time by not having to wait for kit to become available when others are busy. The only pain can be transport. But then, their work either comes to them or, hopefully, is done on site.
I will ask around.
Fwiw, I did hear that they were short of blacksmiths at one point.
