Doubleorquits, exactly - even Aus/NZ were not able to keep delta at bay so this is a futile process. Also, we don't really know if this variant is actually more deadly. May turn out to be less deadly - which would be excellent news. Mostly folk need to keep calm and as long as you can hold, this will blow over. Hold and collect dividends in the meantime. Even at $70pb, BP and Shell will be making plenty of profit. Buy backs will be getting more value for re-purchase too so all will be fine as long as people don't panic sell. Trading is tempting if that is one's bag, but not for me. ATB

Bonkers, well said. I've been away for a week and was surprised to see the SP here. I'm about even now but will be loading up if it drops below 50p. The main markets for us are US, UK and Israel. The EU covid wave is bad for sentiment but will not mean much in terms of footfall for cine. Market may be overreacting as usual. IMO

Compound, well said. Ditto re worrying about my son and the terrible burden society is inflicting on the generation currently under 30.

Very reassuring to see that the SP is stable today. Bodes well for a steady re-rate. I am happy to be patient here as the rewards could be very good indeed but will take a couple of years to crystallise the really big gains that are possible. Investors in the last 18 months have got used to a very chaotic market so have got very impatient with more traders than investors. Hopefully normal investment behaviour will return as I find this casino process unhealthy. IMO of course.

Matty222, ask yourself if you will care about this difference when the SP is over 2 pounds? The answer should determine your action. This will vary based on investment amount, fees payable, tax liability etc so different for everyone.
What happens on Monday is of little relevance if you plan to hold for 6 months or more IMO.

We're on the last leg of this pull back. The anticipated winter restrictions are looking much less likely now so steady income should calm the market jitters. I've read a lot of stuff here about debt that is always regurgitated when there is a need to post negative news. All known and accounted for already. Yes inflation is coming, but this also translates to the stuff we sell, tickets, popcorn etc. It's a manageable problem for cine.

More likely IMO that this sort of news was held back until SFO stuff and fund raise was out of the way. Steady contract news after, feels like a managed way out and upwards. Fingers crossed, bottom has been seen and any negative sentiment is in the past. ATB.

Wales, you are right about UK pension funds being eco careful. US and Chinese investment funds do not care as much and have enormously deeper pockets. BP will be absolutely fine.

I don't know Mark - I think personally market is reacting to the fact the "cash machine" is somehow not churning out the "expected cash" so maybe there is a risk being priced in. I suspect the likes of BP and Shell are caught between the devil (owning up to being a lovely cash machine) and the deep blue sea (being hit by a big carbon tax from a populist government more interested in twitter likes). So does one boast or does one stay modest and wait until the world moves on to another news item? I think they have chosen to take a short term hit.

Markgo, patience is a virtue and gloating is not a gentlemanly thing to do. Sarcasm is uncalled for here especially when you consider most people here are PI's investing their hard earned cash. Most of us are not hard nosed professional investors. Lets debate and exchange views in a civil way. We all want to make money but actually none of us want to see PI's lose money so why the negative vibes?
