Solihullmike, Agree we need to drop this. My last counter point is you are not taking into account that we are talking about opening up after all over 50s have been vaccinated. Beyond this point, when risk drops significantly, it's then individuals free choice on what they decide to do. So it's not young vs the old. It's actually what's fair to everyone and our country's economic growth which is needed to pay for the healthcare needs of old folk. ATB.

Solihullmike, insulting people is not likely to elicit a good debate, so let's agree to keep the chat civil.
I'm over 50 too. But I can recognise the damage lockdown is having particularly on young people. Older folk have life experience, more security in terms of income and property and have reliance developed from youthful times gaining all the experience that makes them great and wise. Our youth are giving that up to protect the old folk. Time stands for no one, but time lost in youth has a manifold greater significance for accrual of knowledge, experience and wealth. This is evidence based not opinion. We are expecting more and more sacrifice from our youth, for a disease that gives them nothing more than a common cold. As an over 50, I feel there has to be a limit, and this will be reached when everyone is vaccinated. No one here has argued for a reckless free for all.

There will always be some people who get seriously ill despite vaccination but as long as the NHS is not overwhelmed, people need to be allowed to live, especially the young people. Covid has dented their future already hugely and they need social interaction more than old folk. IMO

Ian, I'm not sure really. That's like saying BAT should be manufacturing e cigarettes. Demand for oil ain't going anywhere and green energy production is expensive. Current shareholders are copping the cost and future ones may or may not be rewarded for it. Green infrastructure needs govts to invest in not oil companies IMO. But I'm staying put as I'm hoping Looney gets binned soon. Just my view. ATB

This sort of thing is custom and practice in some parts of the world and the nature of business. not really sure what the purpose of this investigation is - using UK moral code in areas where the language is different simply puts UK businesses on the back foot. They should be allowed to compete on local terms not the UK terms. Different issue if the bribes were paid here. Entirely my personal view.

This case is done and dusted as he has pleaded guilty. Not really sure why this will have a huge impact. Will be exploited to short of course and this simply presents another opportunity to buy cheaper shares. I have bought more today and have another lot to buy if there is a further dip. Vaccination progress and reduction in R is all pointing to a reopening of society by Easter. Travel abroad is going to be restricted with evermore hurdles so unless you are very rich, a holiday abroad unto July at least seems unlikely. So entertainment venues in the UK will be vital and busy. Just hold steady around 70-80 for a month and then IMO we should be heading north of £1 as reopening are confirmed and new film releases start. ATB

This share valuation is utterly ridiculous and the correction will come. UK minister saying no holidays is not going to have any impact on global oil demand which is on the rise. Brent price gaining is not just down to OPEC, although it has helped massively I agree. When market is irrational, even more reason to stay patient. ATB

Ridiculous valuation based on an investigation by SFO where no charges have been levied against the company after 3 years. Honestly, with OP now over 60, recovery is well underway and I cannot see how the SP can remain suppressed. I'd rather not be on the sidelines when this takes off. IMO. ATB.
