Spending money in this type of mkt rarely goes down well with the stock mkt/ investors. On the plus side, mkt seems to be driving share prices higher for companies with good FCF and lowering debt profiles, which should bode well post results. The longer the conflict goes on, with oil above $110 barrel, this share should keep rising steadily. Just need to break the £3 resistance mark

Maybe one for later in the year, but if there isn’t a bumper special dividend coming forward, I’ll be giving up trading haha

Excellent news! Add in those tax losses and HBR FCF with the uplift in oil price should be great. Hopefully they can add info in for 7th update - not seen any press release yet from HBR

Simple AGM item to allow chief exec to negotiate to buy off market large holdings for cancellation would be great. Discounted shares, fitted in with buyback strategy, what’s not to like? Will still suppress share price though if big discounts come into play

The issue is, it’s not about the merger per-se, it’s the debt owed to HMRC which allows the challenge

Problem for HMRC is it’ll set a legal precedent, so better for Waldorf to go bust than lose the EPL payment ($69million), plus any offset tax allowances from the sale (around $900million). Better to let Waldorf go bust and lose $69 million than $969million…

It’ll probably move quite quickly (3 months for a reserved following conclusion of hearing), maybe quicker as otherwise the company could be forced to liquidate

Clued - Agreed. Wonder who would buy the BP assets though unless clear direction for EPL to be reviewed; at which point, does BP stay. If I were in Gov I’d be trying to keep BP a UK company for the tax receipts, but if I were BP I’d be off a long time ago

Worth noting, other USpresidents have ridden rough shot over the 60 day rule as well.

If any politicians are watching, BP looking to sell up North Sea assets , may give them a bit of a push to bring forward a review of the EPL. If they sell how long before they move to a US listing?

I’d be interested if anyone has run the numbers to see whether OPEC members have stuck to flow limits. Some discussion on websites notes UAE regularly breach (as well as other members), but noting ever enforced. Seems a good time to drop out - but even still, they won’t want to take the mkt so will adjust flows to $x to suit return level
