One solution. Time limit benefits with tapered relief when someone starts working so they are not worse off. If they don’t get a job, benefits pulled. Give it time Celle, the farmers will ramp up after Xmas (they are supporting Xmas dynamic at the moment). 2025 “could” be chaos. Farmers already putting utility companies on notice of refusing future biosolids deliveries, millions of tonnes for them to deal with/ store. a short sharp hit of delaying food for a week would be catastrophic as they won’t be able to fill temporary supply (and there is already talk of doing this)

Anyone believe the projections anymore? The debt spiral is beyond and when you add in all the bumper civil service etc… pay rises which also increase the govt pension time bomb, you have to wonder wtf they are up to. All the extra costs lumped on businesses will mean lower CTax receipts so the funding they’ve set out, just doesn’t add up, relying on a growing economy….🙄

I held for years waiting for them to go up. Averaged down and dividends combined did alright. But wouldn’t do it again. Better off taking the hit and reinvest elsewhere. Budget spooked me so sold up a few weeks back. Was kicking myself seeing the rise but didn’t see today coming. Thought it would be May next year. Provisions are complete unknown but couple of figures floating around the £2billion mark, less the £450 already set aside. DYOR (not advice etc…). Barc and Nwg seem better medium term prospects now

Olller - tend to agree. Decided to bank the small profit (plus years of divis) after holding for years . will see what comes of the next few weeks. I don’t tend to look negatively if a stock rises before buying back in. All about the timing - as long as it’s profit! Haha

not convinced. we’ve car loan debacle due may 25 via fca (may drag on), destabilising middle east, potential interest rate drop (which could be bad or good depending on outlook for loans/ business), ongoing ukraine/ russia conflict, labour govt ******* in the wind, us election and china doing major bailout of property sector. maybe xmas 25/26 but would be surprised at 80p by dec 24

TFE construction industry only grew due to good weather earlier in the year. All the forecasts from major house builders are showing a significant decline in output, so end of your output will probably be negative unless a national house building program kicks off. Seeing number of sites slowing and a lot of lay offs in the sector judging by the number of CVs I get through on email

Already heard they may role back the private school fee hike for at least a year as the figures don’t stack up ie it’ll cost more to fund students going back into state schools. Know a few parents with multiple children in private school who are already looking to move to better school areas and put the money into a house rather than fees. Other rhetoric is schools are looking to pull part or fully funded spaces so the VAT hike will be less on fee paying partners as part of cost saving exercise.

TFE if they go as far as you suggest, it’ll make Liz Truss tanking the market look like a pleasant Sunday lunch. There would be riots in the streets

Seany, based on last few interim’s - upto 15% increase YoY - I’d be surprised if it was more than that, but not surprised if it was a bit less, maybe 10% YoY increase, so around the 1.1p mark with a fair wind would be my best bet

If they do, banks would likely lower lending, increase rates and harm business/ economy - exactly the opposite they need to do, to grow the economy.

Grow the economy should equate to more tax receipts from business and then more money to spend on services.
