Hey, I still have confidence in Novacyt as a business in Diagnostics.
As part of my portfolio I like to try and find a few uncovered gems and get in early.
If I'm honest, I missed the bus with Novacyt. If I was holding stock from sub £2 or had sold half and was in for free this news today wouldn't be as much as a concern but unfortunately i was not in that position like some of you here are and I had a big exposure to the stock.
I sold half today and reinvested in PHE, ARB and HEMO three stocks i have been watching to spread my AIM exposure.
I always knew a vaccine would be out BUT I thought A) it would likely be 40% effective, like the flu shot and B) would be more likely second quarter next year. I was shocked frankly that not only is the vaccine 90% effective but it will be available in three weeks time and BOJO has already ordered 50 million shots !!- this means that a national vaccine roll out will be likely - and yes i would have the vaccine, I'm 52 and consider it a good idea.
Meanwhile, the cheap cr@ppy LFT tests from China are flooding the market but i accept we still have the gold standard.
The result of this news is that whilst i fully accept that the full year results from NYCT will be brilliant, that i have no doubt, they will drop away the following year because with a vaccine out this effective smaller countries will invest in nationwide vaccination programs rather than testing hence, the volumes will fall away.
So then i come onto valuation and i think what is my upside potential in Novacyt and start thinking, is £ 20 now likely with a highly effective vaccine out, will the market cane it now? and i'm thinking possibly but my upside is now possibly only x2 to 3 max from here hence having a big exposure now becomes more risky and there are other stocks i can invest in.
I think those still in 100% here or topped up deserve a good return, fortune favour's the brave but for me i have had to balance my portfolio, its the way it is and will see what happens next
