18 months chaps3 Aug 2023 21:17
Not meaning to kill any fireworks (hell, I’m the one who’s been calling for £7 Feb 2026 for the last three years), but this 18 month business focus part of the release today is very interesting and something we all need to be aware of.
If you’ve not read the entire release, RR are basically saying they’ve ran numerous models to forecast what could/should happen in the next 18 months and, more importantly, “they have finances to continue up to that point”.
That’s, one hand, awesome news as we know RR is around until Feb 2025 if they have a worse case scenario from here on. On the other side, it suggests to me that they’re not considering divs until the end of that period.
Barr the £2bln contract for SMRs that Shapps will announce in the Autumn, that gives us a period of time where the hedges and pensions still won’t invest as it’s not investment grade stock.
A lot can change in those 18 months as we all know from recent history, but I think a base level of understanding what this “18 month strategy forecast” means for SP is rather important.
Still £7 Feb 2025, but it might be left to a huge increase post Dec 2024.
Just my humble opinion.
