So Melody are going to receive a contribution from FB to develop their App so that it works on the Quest.

Q1.Why have FB done an about turn and invited Melody onto a platform that up to now was marketed as a games only heaset ?

Q2. Who owns the intellectual property that FB's contribution will generate.

My answers
Q1. FB have seen value in Melody that others have yet to realise, AND they have determined that there is sufficient cross selling opportunity between games consumers and likely vr music consumers to make bunging a million (my guess) or two in MVR's direction.

Q2. This could be a really sticky one if Melody learn some stuff whilst programming tor the Quest if they want to take that and use it in their App which is then adapted for say a Microsoft or Google product.
Or what happens if another suitor comes along and want to buy only to find that half the App belongs to FB.
I hope they have sorted this out in their contract.

On the other hand if MVR are already committed to a buy out by FB then these questions don't matter.

OK,so Superdata report that Quest might sell 1.3 million units this year, but they also report that the Go sold 555,000 in the last quarter of 2018.

MrH_m - I am given to understand that companies like Facebook already know who you, me, we are and that they all have at least 500 data items on each of us that identifies and predicts our behaviour.

Just try and think up 500 things about yourself that describe your own behaviour, it is quite difficult.

I would imagine that the merging of these companies is more to do with GPDR and the need to pass data between these platforms seamlessly, than anything else.

PS - The 500 number is 18 to 24 months old, so it will be more by now.

Puddin1006 - word is that the MM's are out to get you, so don't expect a rise in the sp even if the upcoming financials contain sparkling numbers.

Being on the Quest is a change for Occulus/FB

Previously their advertising was all about the Go being for "entertainment" and the "Quest" being for Gamers.

I wonder what has changed their minds.
Has the Go experience shown that people are willing to pay for better equipment ?
Has the Go experience shown that social interaction is going to make it a killer app ?

All I ask is that if there are other avatars around me, then I don't want a massive bloke in front of me swaying from side to side, talking to his mate (who doesn't really want to talk) and holding his pint of beer up towards the band.

I wonder if China might be the market to crack ?

If its music in VR then its Melody

The tentacles of Melody spread further, and dig in deeper

Whats the problem with day traders ?
Surely, over time, and all things being equal with no other changes, they just gradually wind up the share price

If you look at Google Trends then you find that "occulus go" has peaks of interest at dates coincident with melody's app launch and their effort with Liam Payne. You also find growing interest in "melodyvr" and that "occulus go" is more popular than "occulus". It might be concluded that melodyvr is actually quite important to the promotion of occulus's products.

Join the dots please.

NextVR who many touted as competitors whilst flirting with music VR have just scaled down their business to concentrate on their NBA stuff.

MelodyVR whose focus is the music VR business have just announced and extension/continuation, call it what you will, with FaceBook to develop a new version of their App for FaceBooks new flagship VR product.

So NextVR, who are on the Occulus, looks unlikely to be putting any music out on the Occulus.

Pretty much a direct quote I think.

This is not about whether music in VR will work, just saying that there is now no real competitor out there at the moment, so if it is going to work, it will be Melody that will crack the nut, not NextVR, not Apple, not Samsung, and not anyone else.

Competition will come later if people see Melody making money, and if it does make money then someone will buy it because 75% of the shares can be bought if you have the money to pay PI's or institutions.

Melody doesn't have the money to buy its shares to keep itself independent, so it will not be able to stand on its own amongst the global players of FaceBook, Google, Amazon, and whatever lurks in China.

I think you can see where the weight of influence will be regarding any buy out price

I would say that this RNS underpins the price at the 4p level for the forseeable future.

The financials due out in February will not dent the sentiment created here.

Merian should be thinking about cashing in if you ask me, or they risk missing out.

Don't forget that the buy/sell classifications are automatically generated based on the nominal spread at the time of the trade.
For the 500,000 share trade at 13:09.52 today it could well be the case that this was in fact a sell picking out the bottom of a rising spread caused by two buys shortly beforehand of 200,000 and 159,000 shares which introduced some momentum that was quickly snuffed out.

Personally I didn't think the low of the recent trading range was large enough to justify selling at 4.2p, so it is either someone selling out from a much lower level, or someone managing the share price.

In the last few trading days we have seen "all blue" and "all red" days.
Not something I have see elsewhere in the absence of good/bad news, rumour, gossip or indeed anything else.

I would like to think it is the MM's helping someone close their short, but hey ho, usual games probably.

I hesitate to remind anyone but, ......

Unless you really believe that the sp is going to fall much further then there is one short that was opened at aroound 9p which isn't going to earn much more and so needs some shares to hand back in the near future when the financial reports that are due in early February underpin the share price and brings their nefarious activities to an end.
