The September issue of fastjet’s in-flight magazine, “Places”, in combination with federal Airlines, has been published. In keeping with recent issues, it is 48 pages plus cover pages. A mere seven pages of advertising plus several more self-promoting. I have no idea if they have an ad agency; if so, then they should work a lot harder to get a significant increase in support.

A man hanged himself at the Joshua Mqabuko International Airport on Thursday after checking into a flight to Johannesburg. A passenger who was on the early evening FastJet flight to South Africa said the man had been allocated seat 15A on flight FN8663.

"He arrived at the airport and checked-in. Then for whatever reason he went to the male toilet and hanged himself. It appears he had a rope.”

Police had recovered a diary "full of suicide notes.” Airport officials declined to comment.

I suppose there are bound to be a few people who just can’t face the prospect fo flying with fastjet!

Welcome back Dabler. I really thought this place had died, with no sign of life for over four months. Hardly surprising given just the sight of tumbleweed blowing across it in the dust.

Still I’ve been one of the original “Stalwarts” since I bought in way back in 2013. And whenever I’ve been provoked into posting I always do a random check to see if we have any aircraft actually in the air! And am pleased to confirm that a random selection shows there are not one but two flights from Harare to Johannesburg operating on 6 June at 06:10 and 16:45. So all is well.

At this rate, you should hear from me again sometime in late September! ATB to all investors in fj.

It is free to all passengers and includes just eight pages of almost all full-page advertising. The articles are beautifully illustrated in full-colour.

You need a large 27” monitor to be able to read it, otherwise I imagine you could print it out at full size on an A4 printer.

I am so pleased you are still around and willing to post again. You have always been one of my 'closest' stalwarts! A warm welcome back. Any opinions on the chance of the share price ever recovering? It still seems so odd to me when tickets still seem to be flying off the shelves and filling seats that the SP doesn't budge. Keep well.

Oilyguy: Couldn’t agree more. It looks as if Fossiebeer is still around and, more importantly, still contributing to this forum too. So there are still three of us!

There used to be a regular poster, with whom I met up once at one of the company’s AGMs in London, after several months (years?) of mutual communication here, and his username was Ronwin (last post dated 1 January 2021). That rather confirms my suspicion that his infirmity I recall may have worsened. Of course I sincerely hope not, so if you are still a stalwart, Ron, re-engage as soon as you like; you’d be most welcome.

After another vain check to see if anyone else is around on the LSE fastjet forum, I'm disappointed if not entirely surprised to discover no new posts for five months!!!, but there was some comfort to see that a new edition of fastjet's travel magazine Places has been published, dated September/November 2023. Its 48 pages are strongly focused on South Africa with the last few pages devoted to federal Airlines which operates shuttle and charter flights. Before that, pages 40-43 follow the usual style and content familiar to any former "stalwarts" still active! And there is the usual "Welcome Letter" headed "Warm Greetings" on page 4.

However, it's a bleak sign of its status that full page ads are right down at 3, plus one double-page spread for HAC Medical. To the best of my knowledge (ie: recent research) there have been no Annual Report and Financial Statements since 2021 nor the in-flight magazine Places since 2018. Nor before that's predecessor, TravelSmart, whose masthead conspicuously featured its famous African Grrey parrot.

However, it's good to see the company is still surviving but disappointing to see it is no longer voted Africa's Leading Low-Cost Airline at the World Travel Awards since 2021 and voted for the previous 5 consecutive years.

As for the share price, as Basil Fawlty might've said, "Don't mention it!"

Of course you would've been an 'original' Stalwart Fossiebeer, but as you confirm just now, you made no contribution to the Forum early on so, having just checked my record at that time, you don't appear. But I have become very familiar with your username since from your occasional posts.
Like you, I too have seen my substantial holding literally "wiped out', valued at zero but still cling on to them in the very vague hope that, since the airline seems to be quite active and seats often fully booked, according to the occasional random check, not to mention the fleet now five after years of the status quo of just three aircraft, then it still has a future – hopefully a healthy one.

Ah but, respectfully, you weren't amongst the "ORIGINAL" Stalwarts around 2013–2016. (I've just checked an historic list in my files!!) Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you consider yourself one now.

So more positive news to come early next year and yet still has no effect on the SP, still languishing mysteriously at absolute zero. I think I, if not you, have had enough of my positive take on this company's future, based purely of announcements of any future expansion plans.

I’ve just made my latest occasional visit to the company’s website and quite surprised to see a reference to their fifth Embraer 145 50-seater at the end of their official website directed to newcomers, “Discover the story of fastjet”.
At the moment, I still call that a major announcement considering the number of years we’ve been used to it being a mere 3 aircraft. Who was it who said “Every little helps”?

Yes, it does look a tad suspicious, doesn’t it, Fossiebeer I had got my overall average down to £1.30 by mid-July 2018 after the 1 for 26 Open Offer, but the actual share price was £0.08p. Still, I’d be happy with 800p a share! At least, I’d have recovered £1144.

So can anyone explain to me, with my shares now worth absolutely zero, the flight schedules still showing no cancellations. Eg: my single trial example – Harare to Jo’burg: “Hurry! 2, 3 or 4 seats left”? Prices from $242 for ValueFlyers up to $342 for FlexiFlyers? As I write “14 people [were] viewing this route”! Looks darned healthy to me still. But then, wasn’t I always the optimist.
