As I posted earlier, CyanConnode have only dealt with Landis & Gyr, " .... on a longterm basis ..... " in the Nordics. The MOU with Hexing, still hasn't brought forward an ongoing working Partnership, that we are aware of.

Hello Inthetin,

From the list you have provided, to my knowledge, CyanConnode have only dealt with Landis & Gyr, in the Nordics, on a longterm basis. But not in India.

But CyanConnode have a growing number of European and Indian Partners/Meter Manufacturers that have been confirmed during the last couple of month's, for historic and ongoing projects in India. None of who, appear on your list.

Hopefully there are more CyanConnode Partners in the " pipeline," that we are yet to be informed of.

My SMETS1 smart meter has been providing me with information for some years now and does not need any manual intervention. It is all done remotely, as with most of the UK.

I seem to remember that a certain number of SMETS1 smart meters, were contracted to be installed even after SMETS2 was introduced. So I cannot see the need to waist all the additional SMETS1 installs, if an alternative, competitive solution is readily available.

As an additional observation tonyj, it would also seem that students are being given the opportunity to learn about the running of discoms, with the view for possible future job opportunities for them, if they so decide.

" A team from ITT-l led by a professor from electrical engeneering department and students, early this week had visited the electrical department.

" We have tried to understand the issues faced by discom and areas where they would want to utilise the data of smart meters. The aim is proper and efficient usage of the data for multiple purposes. One of the problems, we would help them by means of advanced tools, is quick theft detection and efficient supply of electrity," IIT Indore's electrical engineering professor Dr. Trapti Jain said.

" Jain said that advanced tools based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, would help discom map large volumes of smart meter data and time to time analasis."

This seems like an insight into the next stage of development/progress, for all discoms.

I have read the report on the Indore project and the involvement by Madhya Pradesh Western Region Power Distribution Company of the involvement of the Indian Institute ot Technology ( IIT ) to " ...... assist the electrical department in using advanced tools based on artificial intelligence and machine learning for theft detection, smooth supply of electricity and efficient use of smart meter data."

So this seems like a pro-active move to me, to learn and progress the utility, through the use of " ..... artificial intelligence ...... " tools, which should add to the already efficient running of the business.

" The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd ( UPPCL ) will install 4-G smart prepaid meters at the consumers' households in the state, from July 1 and also convert the existing 12 lakh 2G/3G smart meters into meters based on 4-G technology, said people aware of the development.

" The Union power ministry has agreed to UPPCL's demand for installation of 4-G smart meters from July 1 and also replacement of existing meters based on outdated 2-G/3-G technology, because of which meters often malfunction," an official said.

" The UPPCL had stopped midway the work of installation of 40 lakh smart meters in the state, after the bulk disconnection of smart meters caused blackout in around 2 lakh houses in UP, on August 12, in 2020, apart from other regular complaints.

" UP Rajya Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad chairman, Avdhesh Kumar, who had been opposing installation of 2-G/3-G meters for a long time, said the decision to install only 4-G meters from July 1 was appropriate and would make such meters more acceptable to people."

So this particular project is scheduled to begin from July 1st. So is the Empanelment Process complete for this project and other projects that seem to have got the green light?

" The Netherlands Measurement Institute ( NMI ) has certified a 100% hydrogen meter, developed by SIT, through its subsidiary, MeterSit.

" The Measuring Instrument Directive certification issued proves that MeterSit's Domusnext 2.0 MMU6 H2 residential meter is 100% hydrogen compatible.

" SIT says the certification is testimony of the accuracy and reliability of the hydrogen meter for use in Europe, the UK and other non-EU countries.

" The hydrogen meter is the world's first to gain NMi's Measuring Instrument Directive certification."

" Nations the world over are standing on the brink of the large scale commercialisation of hydrogen, with new technologies required to both produce and use hydrogen and the economic and environmental benefitsthat are anticipated to ensue."

There was a time, when hydrogen was one of the component's that could be used to wipe us of the face of the earth. Now it could be used as one of the component's that could save the planet from virtual extintion.

From the report dated May 25th, 2022:-

" Tangedco and Tamil Nadu government is expecting funding support from the Government of India. Sources in the department told IANS that the central power ministry had promised financial support for the project, but it was put on hold due to the pandemic. The Tangedco has already submitted a reworked proposal to the Central government to totally bear the expenses of the project, that would benefit the people immensely and reduce human intervention in even disconnection and reconnection."

Genus Power and CyanConnode have already started installing RF smart meters, albeit in an initially small project, in Tamil Nadu, which we hope will bode well for future contracts.

Certainly, Inthetin. CyanConnode have received orders from Rajasthan over the last 2 years and Assam more recently. What the potential RF figure will be from the report that you have posted, has not been made clear. But that is not unusual, at this stage.

There is a diagram within the report that gives some detail of how the system might integrate into a residential property. But it may be something that we all have to accomodate in some way, at some time or another.
