............ seems to be linked to two companies, from what I can see, Iran's Power Generation and Distribution Company ( known as TAVANIR ) and the Iranian Electrical Power Equipment Manufacturing and Provision Company ( SATKAB.)

From the report, dated July 21, 2019:-

" As reported by the portal of the Iranian Energy Ministry ( known as Paven ), with this MoU signed, the second phase of the Energy Ministry's national smart metering program ( known as FAHAM ) was officially started.

" Based on this MoU, 5 million smart electricity meters will be installed across the country, within the next two years."

So it would seem that local Iranian companies are being used to implement their smart meter programme.

You cannot blame the Iranians for doing their own thing, under the circumstances.

It does matter, because you included it in your headline. You must have done that for a reason. I posted it, that is correct. But you quoted from it directly originally, but were reluctant to post the full report.

Also from the report, 3 paragraphs one after another, giving some guidance on the process:-

- " Consult guidance issued by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control ( OFAC ) on US Department of Treasury website."

- " The UK government continues to fully support expanding our trade relationship with Iran and encourages UK business to take advantage of the commercial opportunities that arise."

- " The UK fully implements UN, EU and UK domestic sanctions law. The re-imposition of the US sanctions against Iran may have commercial and legal implications for UK businesses and individuals dealing with Iran. Where neccessary, legal advice should be sought."

So there could be legal implications for individuals as well as for companies, when dealing with Iran.

The UK government can " ..... fully support expanding our trade relationship with Iran ...... " but also taking into consideration that " The UK fully implements UN, EU and UK domestic sanctions law " with all the other implications.

Good morning all,

The UK Gov. update 02/09/20, posted on Thursday 2nd June, 2022, are a couple of paragraphs from an undated document, with an update of 2nd September, 2020. The paragraphs immediately before and after the paragraphs in the full document, have dates of 2015/2016 included in the text.

So what was actually " updated " is unclear.

So I believe the paragraphs quoted in isolation of the whole report, on Thursday 2nd June, 2022, were the UK Governments position, during 2015/2016.

There is also a pragraph " 1. Iran export overview " which reads:-

" As of 5 November 2018, US nuclear-related santions have been re-imposed on Iran following the withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action ( otherwise known as the Iran Nuclear Deal ) on 8 May 2018."

So the reading of the full text can give a different perspective, than that which was originally portraid.

The original order from APDCL to IntelliSmart, was for the installation in what they called " ..... 19 circles of Assam " and it names them. But the CyanConnode RNS for the IntelliSmart order, does not state exactly which states the smart meters will be installed, in Assam.

The CyanConnode order from IntelliSmart, I posted earlier today, was initially for 100,000 Omnimesh modules, with the meter Partner being Schneider Electric, we have now been informed.

Whether this is APDCL dipping their toe in the water, so-to-speak, we will have to wait and see. But I am encouraged that APDCL seem to have gone for a fare portion of RF smart meters at the outset. How many will possibly eventually go to RF, will obviously depend on a successful project and the overall budget.

An interesting report, Inthetin. But dated May 31st 2022, so fairly relevant.

Without mentioning CyanConnode specifically, the recent Assam contract gets a mention.

From the report:-

" Government of India has started a BOOT ( Build, Own, Operate, Transfer ) model to further pursue Indian states to adapt to smart meters. Under the scheme government will invest up to 15% as well as help in distribution upgrades and also lure in other investors. The first ever state to adopt this programme is Assam. IntelliSmart Infrastructure Private Limited is a JV between Energy Efficiency Services Ltd ( EESL ), an Indian government energy service company and the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund ( NIIF ), established to enable the implementation of smart meters through a BOOT ( Builrd, Own, Operate, Transfer ) model."

The " Step-by-Step-Approach for Empanelment Process " ( on page 17 ) also gives some details on the " 3 step approach " to Empanelment.

From the " Formulation of Partnerships for Empanelment Application ," through the " Submission of Empanelment Application " and finally " Demonstration of End-to-end AMI Prepaid Solution."

As we are aware, no time scales are available for this Empanelment Process, at the moment, but the award of the Empanelment Certificate, I'm sure, will be eagerly awaited by the successful, participating companies.
