I have no idea who has got the Comms for UPPCL. According to this report, from 16th May, 2022, with the number of meters that are programmed to be installed, I would think there will be more than one Comms provider.

From the report:-

" Principle Secretary, Energy and Chairman of UPPCL, M. Devraj said that the Government of India has earmarked funds for metering and other associated works to be carried out, under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme ( RDDS ). Detailing on the move he said, UPPCL is going to install as many as 73,27,988 smart meters in Varanasi discom, 75,28,737 in Lucknow discom, 53,54,069 in Agra discom, 61,43,361 in Meerut discom and 62,500 meters in Kesco."

So 26,416,655 meters in total.

Also from the report about the additional works:-

" Apart from the metering, Devraj also spoke about other works that have been given a green chit under the scheme. Works like laying armed cables in consumers premise, converting LT lines into ABC cables, constructing agricultural feeders and strengthening 33kV and 11kV LINES."

So we will have to wait see what news filters out eventually, but it is a big project, that could take some years to complete.

I am glad you noticed that, as I was going to post on the $70 million valuation next, but had to go out.

From the March 1st, 2022 report:-

" The $70 million contract covers the design of the advanced metering infrastructure ( AMI ), the installation of the smart meters, their integration with existing billing system of the electricity distribution companies and operation and maintenance for a period of 8 years."

5m customers for $70 million = £59,115,000 = $14 ( £11.82 ) per customer/installation, over an 8 year period.

So does not allow for the electric meters, from what I can make out.

So as long as EDF are happy, with what they are making overall, thats fine. They may be making a further mark-up/profit on the electric meter. So it would interesting to know who's meters are being used, but that information does not seem readily available, unless I have missed it or cannot find it.

From the RNS:-

" CyanConnode Holdings plc ( AIM: CYAN ), a world leader in Narrowband Radio Frequency ( RF ) Smart Mesh Networks, is pleased to announce a follow-on order for the Metropolitan Electricity Authority ( MEA ) in Thailand. The follow-on order is for an additional 206,735 Omnimesh perpetual software licences and relates to the Thailand order announced on 30 December 2019."

So the " kick-off " meeting and the original CyanConnode installation, seem to have been successful.

The " ...... 33,265 smart meters ...... " referred to in the MEA/Forth/Yip In Soi report, posted yesterday, dated 20th January, 2020, in my opinion, was reference to the 30th December, 2019 RNS, for " .... 33,000 units from its Distributor and Technology Partner, The JST Group ( JST.) The end customer is Metropolitan Electricity Authority ( MEA ), a Thai state enterprise under the Ministry of Interior.

" The Company has worked closely with JST and its partner Forth Corporation Public Company Limited ( Forth ), a telecommunication and electronics company that provides products and integration services in Thailand."

Also within the RNS, " Hardware deliveries will commence in 2020, with deliverables for the integated system commencing immediately."

" On successful deployment the 33,000 units is expected to extend to a further 200,000 units. A kick-off meeting will be held in mid-January at which the full roll-out plan will be agreed."

So the relevant dates which were not included in the MEA/Forth/Yip In Soy report, dated 20th January, 2020, posted yesterday, are included in the CyanConnode order dated 30th December, 2019.

I cannot find any referrence to this order being classed as a " .... pilot .... " in the MEA report or the CyanConnode order.

But there is nothing wrong with " a pilot." In my opinion.

I did post an update specifically on the EDF Bihar project yesterday, if that is what you are looking for, from March 2022. There are some links embeded in that that report, that I noticed this morning, that may also be of interest to you, concerning the project in general.

The " ..... scope in India is even higher, up to 300 million units," even from 2019, could possibly be a reference to any extra smart gas/smart water meters. The 250 million are the estimated number of smart electricity meters required in India.

There is a report out from July 23, 2019, that confirmed that " ...... EDF has completed pilot projects preceding the full rollout of 5 million smart meters in Andhra Pradesh and Bihar."

So probably started in 2018, but pretty close.

No need to be sorry. It is good to know that the ongoing, current smart meter projects are beginning to gain momentum. I will keep a lookout for the EESL/EDF report.

So the present " run-rate " as you have referred to it, from March 1st 2022 until 21st June, 2022 is approximately 100,000 meters per month. ( 400,000 divided by 4 months.)

The average from April 19th, 2021 until June 21st 2022 is approximately 57,000 meters per month. ( 800,000 divided by 14 months.

The latest EDF related report I can find is dated March 1st, 2022, so fairly recent, with a paragraph which includes " EDF says the project is not without its challenges ........... " which matches the 15:20 post.

The report suggest that " EDF has recorded installing 500,000 smart prepaid meters in the state of Bihar in India's national smart meter rollout.

" The deployment of the smart meters in Bihar comes comes ten months after recording the 100,000 meter milestone, indicating an average daily deployment of around 1,300 units by EDF International Networks."

1,300 units daily, working on an average 30.5 days per month, equates to 39,650 per month.

The additional 400,000 meters were installed over a 10 month period, from what I can gather, from April 19th, 2021, which equates to 40,000 meters installed per month.

So is there another report that carries the 100,000 smart meters per month figure.

Good morning all,

Scneider Electric expanded its manufacturing, last year, in connection to its Prisma iPM electrical switchboard. So it is interesting to know that Schneider Electric were not only involved in the Kenya Power Expo, but also have a manufacturing facility in Kenya.

So as is in the report - " Buy Kenya - Build Kenya."

Until some details are produced to give share-holders an indication of how CyanConnode are doing, the Trading Update has the potential for good news, but it also has the potential for not so good news.

As we both agree and you have indicated, some information on supply-chain security if possible, would be welcome. That is a priority for the majority of companies, in any circumstances, let alone taking in to account the global problems, pressures and shortages that everyone has to put up with, in one form or another, at the moment.

Some interesting and quite understandable comments on both LSE and ADVFN recently and this morning, concerning the potential Trading Update and the reasons for its delay.

Investors and The Market's will understandably be nervous until the Trading Update/Results for 2022 are revealed. Let us hope that it is not too far away and any uncertainty, can be lifted.

........ as we are aware, are also both engaged in smart meter projects in Thailand. CyanConnode, with JST and Forth Corporation, a tele-communications and electronics company, for the MEA and Trilliant, with SAMART Telecoms PLC, for the PEA.

Both CyanConnode and Trilliant have engaged initially, with a different end user, from what we are/I am, aware of.

So interesting, differing strategies seem to be developing in Thailand, between the two Companies.

Trilliant has had some success with EESL in India, over the years and CyanConnode was initially awarded its first contract with Tata Power, in Mumbai, in 2014 and has been awarded 2 contracts in Assam by IntelliSmart, during May and June 2022.

Did Trilliant ever tender against CyanConnode for any of the 12 contracts awarded to CyanConnode over the 8 year period from 2014 to 2022?
