Awesome news on Spiderman No Way Homes opening Box Office, domestically and internationally. Phenomenal.

The most common sense write up I have read yet on this. We need to learn to live with the Virus and get on with our lives and that's certainly what I have been doing and intend to keep doing (with care - hands, face, space)

The renowned film critic has just given Spiderman No Way Home a super review on BBC News 24.

Says he watched it on Imax with a packed cinema full of fans and there were at least 6 points in the film that had the full audience whooping and laughing. Said the middle part was really good whilst observing the not disclosing any spoilers reminder at the start.

Switching off for the weekend as previously stated the intention is to fully enjoy this Christmas as last year was a non-event.

7.30p.m. tonight on BBC1 has Spiderman Far From Home (the previous one on) Thats if you haven't seen any.

Lastly if anyone is stuck for a cheapy pressie for a loved one James Bond "No Time To Die" releases on DVD on the 20th December.

The January update should massively improve on the run up to last Christmas what with regional lockdowns then leading to a full lockdown in the key run up to Christmas.

SriniVaradhanN I like you struggle to understand the verdict and award for expectation damages awarded by Judge Conway (and the full verdict tbf). Hindsight ays why didn't you just pay the break fee?

But we are where we are and transaction costs were the only damages that were truly agreed on by both sides and that figure seems to be what was discussed in court.

The award to Cineplex for synergies out of all 7 damages options was the most ludicrous of them all. It awards the value of the cost savings and synergies that only Cineworld would achieve through merging its Regal head office functions and computer systems with those of Cineplex - to Cineplex. Cineplex could not achieve those themselves as they don't have the Regal infrastructure. And that is even after paying a premium for CP and moving a substantial amount of debt onto Cineplex.

Fortunately I think the wording of the judgement lends itself very well to a very strong case for appeal for in awarding the full whack of synergy damages to CP the Judge acknowledging that Cineworld did not present any evidence to minimise this. Cineworld in my view argued strongly that this was a ludicrous option. Personally I also watched the judge interject on many points for clarification with both sides throughout the trial and imo if she was considering this route there were capable experts in the court (Enzo Carlucci for instance) who should have been asked and could have done this in court.

I've seen the word protectionism brandished around and that may fit for there was so much contradictory testimony v documentary evidence given by Cineplex witnesses yet it barely gets a mention.

Anyway I ramble. Point being that on the expectation damages side alone there is ample scope for this to be significantly reduced.

As for Omicron no doubting infections will go up, and are, but so will instances of the cold and the flu. My own view presently is tha this has more to do with protecting an already stretched NHS. Virtually everybody in authority though whose comments I have been reading on Omecron add the caveat "mild though the symptoms may be" which leads me to think the same as you re it mirroring South African symptoms. We also have high vaccine rates, boosters and therapeutics. Even Chris Witty used this very same expression in an interview yesterday and even dear Nicola.

Happy to settle for today's rise and beaten only in terms of percentage gain by a recent CARD repurchase. (Looked cheap) Hopefully the rise and volume are the hallmarks for a good week ahead.

Anybody bold enough to be holding any of the US cinema stocks going into this weekend?

KTP's just in response to your earlier post about being a BOT. Lol. Reflect back on my posts and you know I actually pay good money to go and watch all the good films @CINE (except the freebie I had for the Kings Man red carpet event) and nearly always in IMAX. Furthermore I have also put my money where my mouth is with about £150 worth of cinema vouchers on top as Xmas present top ups.

Always better to stick to commenting on the company you are invested in rather than the individual.

I was thinking the same RS2002. Far too cheap @CINE going into easily the biggest movie of the year. Hoping also for Everyman (EMAN) to mirror things given it recently upped its guidance and the way UK ticket sales for Spiderman have been going.

Schools just about to go on Festive breaks should also boost things.

$200 Million - $225 Million my guess for the US /Canada.

Then add in concession spending on top and hopefully they are still advertising Unlimited and Gift Cards as Xmas presents onscreen also as another revenue source (£30 credit for £25 + Regal equivalents). Opportunity like no other to sell itself.

Big volume today hopefully indicates a good week ahead next week with a big rebound for both ourselves and EMAN on the Uk listings side of the Atlantic and also for AMC, Cinemark and IMAX on other other side of the Atlantic.

If they had any sense then they would probably be better investing some of their time getting tickets for themselves and their family for @CINE and buying some shares at these dirt cheap prices.

This one film looks set to feed CINE enhanced revenues for its full theatrical window. The Matrix 4 and The Kingsman across the back of it as well as what is already showing.

The sensible shorts have been exiting their positions with a nice profit. You would like to think that those remaining might see a sizeable diminuation in their profit if they still have it all open come next week and Spiderman No Way Home hots the right notes. Pre-sales and other market openings appear to be pointing that way.

If Mooky is genuinely serious about a US listing for Regal then you would expect that he starts by releasing some form of update next week to show a recovering US Box Office. For it would be off the back of that you would go to market to realise the best price.

Just my thinking.

Time for a bit of Christmas shopping

For a company that you would expect to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Festive season.

From looks of it, seems like $45-50M THU in USA/CAN for #SpiderManNoWayHome. If I am gonna be specific, go for middle of that range. Final pre-sales will be mostly $140M roundabouts. Looking good for $110M+ opening day and $225M+ weekend.

If he is correct then spare a though for our Regal employees in the US for it is going to be VERY busy.

By comparison the biggest opening of any film post pandemic opening was Venom which surprised at just over $90M.

Everybody can do their own research by buying tickets and visiting themselves and whilst there you can see for yourself if the cinemas are busy and what proportion of people are buying concession food to alleviate mask wearing.

I'm just happily sat waiting for the Spiderman weekend numbers to filter into print for next week.

We should be taking A LOT of dollars this weekend and ongoing for the full theatrical window of the next 6 to 7 weeks but moreso it will be the renaissance in US cinema attendance that it brings with it.

UK has already broken opening day records and all our other territories should do likewise.

Incidentally was it not your good self that posted that it would be a couple of months further until the Cineplex verdict? I think you will find that I personally estimated December. Always look inward before you look outward.
