Had Tom Holland on it dressed as Spiderman on it and surprising a teenage kid who was a big fan and thanking him for the massive fundraising for several charities that he had done He was gobsmacked and then Tom Holland sat down beside him and they played a game on a PS 5 or XBox and he even gave him his Spidey mask. Great publicity.

Spiderman No Way Home became a member of the elite club of Box Office films that had pre-sold over $100M of advance ticket sales in the USA / Canada. One of only 6 such films to have done so and with 2 days to add until US / Canada opening it should climb a position or two.

Just got back in from watching a mid afternoon showing of West Side Story and yes people are still going to the movies. Mainly couples this time and nice to see several of the older generation watching it as well. Deserving of its reviews and I thought Spielberg has done it proud. Rita Moreno and Rachel Zegler the standouts and with many memorable songs throughout. It was interesting listening to the chatter in the concession queue and some saying they are back tomorrow night with the kids for Spiderman No Way Home. Mrs Lat just made a comment two nights ago saying that she hadn't seen many retailers Xmas adverts on tv this year. The good news is that they are in cinemas. Today several new faces to the norm. Waitrose, Sainsburys, Boots and also Tiffanys.

sammy18, its only because so many people remain glued to the screen on here daily that the stock, share price and bulletin board get targeted by Hedge Funds and hedge funds. I've just been switching off, getting on with enjoying Christmas and popping my head in now and again and if they want to gift me some at a cheaper price then I will top up at at strategic points.

Whatever is the case and probably a combination of all three of the above, the Cineworld share price is getting treated like a proverbial kick-bag and that's because the main institutions are not buying and supporting their own stock.

@CINE it goes down, then recovers a little, but then falls further again and it downtrends rather than bouncing between a range. Only a couple of months ago it was 88p and the share price was 84p with Bond. Now look where we are.

Yes there are short positions but what I can't get my head around is that there seems to be a collective absence and abstinence off all our major share-holders (except 1) stopping them buying more shares to support their own investments. Even at these prices !!

Flu infection rates and deaths incidnetally will be outstripping this by many multiples at this time of year and many now with urgent cancer cases will have to wait whilst staff get diverted to vaccinate.

If there really is such a big problem with this variant and the potential to overwhelm the NHS (and I have yet to see any justifiable data and with everything I have read is stating Mild symptoms) then lets get some Nightingale hospitals reopened and let people get on with everyday living.

Sage has NEVER since the pandemic started got any Covid predictions right and it is always way out. You only need to google half the predictions Neil Ferguson has come out with to gauge how wrong they are. Imho this is more to do with the PM being in the ~~it on so many fronts.

Sadly though with all this scaremongering going on and the media resonating it I do fear that many of the smaller independent businesses might struggle into next year.

Venom, Let there be Carnage I believe is the highest grossing opening weekend in the US since cinemas reopened in the Covid era, and it surprised a few at just over $90 Million for the full weekend.

But it should (WILL) be smashed this coming opening weekend by Spiderman No Way Home.

Watch the promotion effort ramps up a level this week. You saw the Daily Bugle newstand pop-ups at the weekend and other promo's, Red Carpet tomorrow and then the media interviews and tv advertising intensifies.

The well informed talk is that SNWH will enter the elite band of films that have pre-sold over $100M worth of tickets prior to screening. That's just the pre-sale tickets. Not many out there in that illustrious group.

All the Williams F1 cars steering wheels today and the main body of the car had The Kingsman and "Only in cinemas" advertising logos on them.
