Can anyone tell me the eventual Rosneft sale will come through in the accounts? Will that be a large one off profit? Also what is happening to any declared Rosneft dividend , is BP refusing to take it? Thanks

Pretty much the same with me except for utilities which were up. Lifes not too bad, it even seems like the boards unofficial premier league team have a chance of surviving the drop.

I have always said that at times like this forget what you paid. Its history. What you should do is ask yourself whether, if you were not invested, you would find the current SP attractive given what you know about the company. If the answer is yes then stay invested. If not then sell.

Reading your posting history I doubt you practice that.
On a massive share like BP which is constantly under the microscope the current SP reflects known facts. The Rosneft situation has been out in the open for weeks and so SP has adjusted accordingly. With $100 likely to endure the SP would be far higher if not for the Russian asset. When the writedown occurs, unless differing materially from that predicted, will have little effect on market cap.

I am constantly astonished when I read the posts on this board. If the asset was nationalised by Putin at least half the posters would claim it was good news.
The only asset this company owns is in the country that currently represents the highest political risk for UK investors that I can think of. Now Johnson says there is a possibility that the Ukrainian war may extend to the end of 2023 - and has announced he is supplying more equipment and training to the Ukrainians. So how does anyone think the psycho in the Kremlin is going to react to UK companies? At the stroke of a pen this man, who is a dictator effectively answering to no one, can enact new laws to get back at the UK and any other Western country he sees as helping his 'enemies'.

Yes, sold a chunk at 4.51 best part of 2 weeks back so bought 150K @ 4.1 this morning. Annoyingly I had a quote for 250k @ 4.05 on the screen but I hadn't funded my account - by the time I did the price had moved a bit and I couldn't get a quote for the full number.

Agreed. No one has ever questioned the asset or the ability of the company to get the gold out of the ground. The problem with the SP is the political risk, this mornings RNS didn't change that. Everyone here should calm down a bit

I exited at lunchtime, made a small turn on the 100k shares I bought on Tuesday, but still made a small loss overall on all my dealings. I don't feel I can do anything but guess what will happen here, between 10 and wipe out.

Well of course they wont be generous, that goes without saying, but then the current SP reflects the appalling situation. Its still a massive profitable business, but caught between a (very big) rock and a (very) hard place.
What I find incomprehensible is how the Russians (or at least their leadership, I pity the ordinary Russians which I accept may not be a popular view) hope to regain the place in the wider world community in a generation. They are now, truly, a toxic pariah state.

I think the British Government should support British based companies at this time. However the loan would in my opinion have to come from the taxpayer as its hard to see any commercial enterprise loaning such large sums in this toxic environment, at least without guarantees from the government securing the loan. The risk of some future event destroying POGs capacity to trade, probably contrived on a whim by Putin, is just too high.

I have been waiting for someone to suggest a suspension could happen. Given what is happening, especially the deterioration in the Ukraine (if that is possible) since the UK market was last open, I wouldn't be surprised if a suspension being announced early next week..
This is hard (as in impossible) to value at the moment. It could be worth anything from 0 to 10p, and no one has any idea where in that range it is. It ain't investing, its gambling

How do you force a regime change on an unstable dictator with his finger on nuclear buttons to over 5000 nuclear warheads which can hit anywhere on earth? I agree with your ideals 100% but what you are proposing is not possible. Its like the current push to prosecute this madman for war crimes. How exactly? Its all hot air, how are you going to extract Putin from Mother Russia to stand trial let alone be imprisoned. He isn't going to go willingly so who will go and get him? I agree with your sympathy for the ordinary Russian people, they risk returning to the living standards of the USSR days for a generation.
