Talking of dividends, I have just read that Rosneft has announced record dividends. So what exactly happens to the Rosneft dividends due to BP. Is that clear or don't we know?

Amazing history for this very old company. Harry Ricardo dated back to the latterpart of the 19th century, and the company has its roots in 1915. They did magnificent work in the 2 World Wars, including work on the first generation of tanks (or landships as they were then called) . I supposed we, or more specifically I, shouldn't be seduced too much by history, after all it has taken over a century to become what is still a modestly sized company! Anyway, that was what bought me here.

Well, if BCN is any sort of guide, from my ever failing memory a c.50% uplift in SP occurred. So assuming the rot stops here than maybe 15p which is, I think, the level of the last fund raise give or take?

I don't think we should overestimate the influence of Secker. He is only there due to the (now historic) presence of BCN as a major shareholder. We can criticise his performance at BCN all we like but at least the project at Sonora was progressing. I expect him to be voted out at the next re-election as the justification for his position is long gone.
ZNWD is going nowhere, while the massive increase in demand for lithium is approaching fast. I agree with much of what you Bonkers but question that Lithium is in short supply. It is mines in operation that are in short supply, it is my understanding that Lithium itself is abundant in the earth. I may be wrong. I do believe that they have to start something soon else I would suggest that a takeover would be beneficial to all. The BoD on the face of it are just content to sit around drinking coffee and eating biscuits collecting fat salaries while doing otherwise apparently very little.

I gather from interviews that SD is not impressed by the deals signed up to by his predecessor (s?) so assume he will be negotiating hard.

Bit late to the conversation here, sorry, but referring to DIPPS sat 17.57pm post, if the option goes to arbitration is the 'referee' bound by one or other of the estimates? Cannot he/she impose a third amount if he considers both the estimates presented materially incorrect?
Trying to get my head round SD accepting the 20% amendment form the original 10%. If the 2 sides are < 20% then if the average is taken that is surely bad for GGP, since such a disparity will encourage a low estimate by NCM (although admittedly one that the arbitrator may then regard as too iow if he/she gets involved).
I personally hope this is sorted amicably, arbitration would imply to me a partial breaking down of the partnership arrangement.

When I first came here 18 months ago it's fair to say I wasn't very impressed with the BMN BB. There seemed to be some very pro 'Bushy' posters who would browbeat newcomers, mock them for any gaps in their knowledge of this multistranded (I may have just invented that word) company and shout down anyone with a contrary view to their own. I said as much at the time. It basically stifled new input. However I think times have changed.
I am always hugely impressed by the depth of your information and how fair you are with detractors (not mentioning any names).

I think both Shell and BP should now consider putting 2 fingers up to the UK and move their residency to somewhere like Eire of Switzerland. You normally expect this sort of measure from the left wing. In what way are the Tories the party of business? The Government should simply set the playing field for business to thrive. With the structure of this tax, with its severity dependent on green investment by the companies, this Government is not just setting the playing field but attempting to dictate the business decisions of the Directors.

The only thing stopping me being apoplectic about both Looney and the lying and corrupt UK Government this evening is the fact that BP shares have hit a c.28 month high today

Theaky, this bloke isn't going to move the company irrespective of whether I think he should (or at least threaten to). Therefore my last post is logical, given BP is likely to remain UK resident and therefore subject to perhaps regular windfall taxes then what you suggest (ie maintaining a pure hydrocarbon company), doesn't appear a sensible course of action.

Cant agree with that Theaky given the implied offset on windfall taxes due to green investments. Where would that leave a pure hydrocarbons business with no renewables interest?

I took a punt on selling 1/3 of my holding yesterday, had a feeling. Will pop back and buy back this morning sometime. Still have confidence here, I see this SP mirroring the PG metals prices which seem, hopefully temporarily, to be in a slump
