Very interesting interview with Phil. Very much focused on developing SC134 in-house and also investing in the antibody side more generally.

The other point is that we may find that certain genetics predispose towards certain cancer types, so that may simplify targeting and at least work for some groups.

But this is "big company development" and well beyond Scancell.

That is why I said "in time". Plainly you wouldn't viably vaccinate, pre-disease, against just one or two cancer types. There would be a load of development work and a long timeframe - but the possibility exists, whereas it simply cannot with personalised vaccines.

This is a pretty important point that we generally overlook. Personalised vaccines can only be made if the patient has already had cancer. Arguably, Scancell off-the-shelf vaccines may in time have the capability to stop cancer developing in the first place........

At the AGM, Phil (who I had only just met moments before) was very keen to introduce her. Shamefully (not being a scientist or anything close) I focused on the CEO - but you may well be right that she has much more influence than may at first appear.

If I were on the Board, I’d be quite content to keep the wording vague, even if I knew that the dataset would pass some sort of milestone with scans etc in the next few weeks. Because a) events might not happen exactly when scheduled and b) maximum market/industry impact is achieved by surprise.

One thing is for certain……you don’t go to the AACR to promote a disappointing set of data……

the bit nobody reads in rnss seems to have been tightened up a bit since i last read it, and is now a very clear and concise description of the company, its platforms and its usp:

On the point about cost and off-the-shelf, the geopolitical and macroeconomic factors continue to move towards Scancell. What is needed generally (not just for the cash-strapped NHS, but globally) are solutions that are cost-effective and logistically straightforward. Many of the other proposed cancer solutions don’t offer that and, importantly, never will……no matter how much money and resource is thrown at their development.

Sometime soon, those who hold the purse-strings are going to have to say to the developers of the complex, personalised treatments that enough is enough.

Got back from Thailand a week ago……glad I wasn’t driving to the airport today - took us 4 hrs 40mins to get round the Rama II closure/collapse. I’d guess damage is very minor across Thailand (ex construction sites like the one in Chatuchak), but the roads in BKK will be chaos.

Totally different in Myanmar, though, so hope those affected can be helped out in time.
