Since share price moves in the past provide no useful information about share price moves in the future, why do people here waste so much time discussing them?

I suspect we remain in strong agreement, despite the vicissitudes of the market. Meanwhile I’ve acquired a couple more to be filtered, to cut down inputs whilst I’m away.

At least VD’s comments are consistently pathetic and unrealistic. And it is telling that he compares IMM, which is a total minnow.

The only relevant point in that comparison is that the market has very clearly been wrong about IMM in recent months and new information has tripled the share price in a matter of hours. If/when the same happens here, the whingeing will stop instantly.

Indeed. And I expect rather more fanfare when they are.

I’m interested to know what is happening in the other, larger, cohorts - especially ovarian and renal.

It is worth refreshing one’s memory about the context of this announcement. It is not wholly clear why the encouraging announcement only reports the head and neck cohort, given that there are plainly some positive responses to three other types of cancer. Read the footnotes.

I wonder whether the main reason for the RNS was actually to report the US Patent during the JPM conference (though nobody seems to be attending this year, given that the attendance of the FD was RNS’d last year.

Some larger trades today with the price firming. Perhaps the base of buying interest is finally broadening out after four years of sideways?

Not really relevant, Conz. She has no idea what she’s talking about. See her interview with LD last year in which she plainly had absolutely no idea of the questions she was primed to ask - never mind understand any of the answers.

What is, however, of some minor interest is that she mentioned Scancell at all…..

Good point about the limited information. And yet there has been a raft of new hiring activity in the back end of last year, and Board changes too.

As those who attended the AGM can attest, the messages from management were very positive - and Diggle seemed wholly relaxed.

My conclusion is that things are going on behind the scenes - and are being kept quiet for now……hence my comment about a broad announcement.

I don’t think there is the slightest interest in “news management”, such as keeping punters interested by dripping out RNSs.

Intriguingly-quiet so far this year, even on the verge of Health Conference season. This time last year, there was a queue of presentations being lined up to spread bread on the water…..but, this year, nothing so far.

On Modi-1 we were told “The Company expects early clinical data from patients treated with Modi-1 plus CPIs later (in 2024)”. And we also know news is due on the SCOPE trial and on the first GenMab antibody.

I suspect we may get an update on all these matters in a single RNS - and perhaps some sort of broad announcement? Whether that happens this month or next, who knows?

VCT may only be part though, I guess, but they aren’t listed on Scancell’s website .

In fact, on checking back, we’ll all been wrong in lazily assuming Calculus was the big seller. They might well have been selling for the reasons mentioned, but they were down to only 2.55mn shares earlier this year.

It is much more likely that the seller of the 6.4mn shares was actually Richard Goodfellow, as his latest reported holding was slightly more than that. I imagine we should be thanking Rachel Reeves and her budget for that…….

…..certainly plenty of people I know have been crystallising capital gains and I guess Goodfellow would have some substantial taxable gains to take.

That would generally be true, but my read is that the 6.4mn trade put the marketmakers somewhat long (though I agree most had certainly been done by then). I suspect it was as simple as they needed to have the rump off the Calculus books and converted into cash by year end. As previously discussed, their holding is split across a number of sub-funds for which they raised capital for fixed periods of time. One will have just matured.

Buy and sell annotations are entirely irrelevant. Watch for the actual offer prices obtainable to start rising….

I think you’ll find that most of these “sizeable trades” are in fact purchases. There has certainly been one big holder selling (Calculus, it is assumed), most recently dumping 6.4mn shares just before year end. The share price will remain softish until those have cleared. I’d expect that to happen next week.
