Youre probably right, but then you need to have someone to answer fairly sharpish, which means several (salaried) people answering phones, and at other times there'll be nothing for them to do.
With email everything is written down for the record, and you answer when you have the time.. They do have live chat too, which in my experience, can be found to be turned off but that is less annoying than a call that isn't answered.
They used to have a number and have turned it off so they must have decided they didn't want calls from angry customers.
Is this new, regarding trade enquiries?
