Ci, yes it seems that the market is more sceptical of CC's forecasts for 2022 than I am and and perhaps others on here (though not everyone here). She has played it absolutely straight so far so I will continue to expect the profit to arrive. It might not happen at the start of 2022 but she did say "within the year" though I paraphrase. She has 12 months max. That's why I topped up on Monday but in hindsight today would have been better. Hopefully January will give a strong indication of the way ahead, and a prosperous future at that.

The sleep-away system is more or less unique. It won't be very long before copy-cats arrive if it's as popular as we hope. I wonder whether they shouldn't sell it via Habitat site (Argos) though probably a bit expensive for Argos. Also – and on the other hand – if it's only from eve sleep.co.uk and .fr then eve get more of the profit. The fact that it's on the 'pricey side' will allow cheaper versions so eve need to make money while they have the opportunity. At least they have this Xmas to themselves.

Rumours of covid measures continuing, though not good for us generally (and the family Geeman Xmas in France in particular), can't be bad for online shopping and for consolidating the accelerated progress that has already been made.

I expect they have plenty of ideas but not the cash to develop everything. That's perhaps why licensing deals are attractive atm (cut of profit without development costs).

A couple of years ago, James Sturrock gave an interview (I re-read it this week) where he said they'd like eve to become The White Company of sleep. If you look at their site https://www.thewhitecompany.com/uk/c/home I can see it's slowly happening albeit with a long way to go.

I agree (as we are frugal types here) but just suppose you have the in-laws visiting for 7 days, 10 days over Xmas.. and you don't have enough spare bedrooms. Give in-laws YOUR bed and then you sleep on an airbed or the sofa, or buy a sleep-away system (or just the mattress) and you're sorted for years to come? Even make a point of 'bought for you' to them:)

Any Argos sales probably get reviews on Argos site rather than TP, which means sales could be better than TP implies – just possibly.

I wasn't asked for reviews of my recent pillow purchase. I gave a good review anyway (of course, and I do genuinely like it) so maybe that was spotted but also maybe they don't ask quite as often now? I did notice a few reviewers getting annoyed at the number of requests for a TP review and so that was slightly counter-productive.

10% off, but Don'tgive said it was out of stock for actual Black Friday Friday, then back in stock the next day (or two).

I think that eve were ahead of the curve with the Sleep Away stuff. Eve learned from lockdown.. I'm a bit slow here as it's in one of their slogans ("It's beginning to look a lot like guest time") but I expect there'll be a lot of people visiting relatives in the UK (and French people staying in France?) this Christmas with the latest restrictions. Rather than buy a complete bed – and blow-ups are not great in the winter or for more than a single night – I expect the Sleep Away set is selling very well. They don't have a direct competitor others than cushions off the sofa, which is only fine if you're a teen or student.

Currently it's all in-stock according to the site.

P.S. 12 hours since the TP review numbers were updated. They must be too busy to press 'submit reviews' or whatever they have to do.

Dontgive, there's clearly the demand for a phone line as you've said but eve are just too busy to answer at the moment; they can barely spend time replying to their contact forms (and these reviews) which would be much quicker than a phone call (going through security etc.).
Maybe once they are a profitable company things like phone lines will return (they used to have them so they've been dropped) but a phone would not be answered atm, generating even more bad reviews.
If the contact form is replied to quickly that does smooth disgruntled customers so expenditure on getting email replies out quickly would stem the angriest reviews and be money well spent.
As you say, great that they are busy though some of the busyness is down to DX delivery people not being as helpful as they should be.
Good job the eve speak to DX twice a week. Also good job that TP "skews" towards problem reviews; there must be a lot of happy customers too.

Yes, there are faults and when people sort them out themselves it's quite admirable. We received damaged goods from La Redoute recently and it's very annoying, and the profit quickly goes in sorting it out.

I must admit to a small top up today as the sp might well rise into the January TU and the shares were looking oversold. There was also a large buy first thing. I think the odds are against a TU before Xmas (but you never know..) and there could be news on other subjects prior to 2022 (purported to be a profitable year for eve).

I imagine they will respond once they've checked the story..

Driving a car is a privilege. You can't do it unless you jump through the hoops (pass a test, pay road tax, MOT your vehicle, don't drive when under the influence etc) that the Government sets for the benefit and safety of most people.

If you don't want to jump through the hoops (take a driving test etc) then you don't drive.

Going inside Sainburys shops, Odeon cinemas, your local pub, is not a right. You have to obey certain rules. Your'e not allowed to walk in naked, or armed with a gun, in this country.

So if the rules say you can only go in if jabbed, no one is forcing you to have a jab, any more than they are forcing you to wear clothes. It's just the sensible thing to do in a society.

So if you don't fancy a jab have you every right to decline it. Then just get your vaccinated mates to do your shopping for you, or shop on the internet, and don't go to the pictures – just get Netflix instead. That's your right.

You'd think that people are going to be 'press ganged' and thrown to the floor and forcefully jabbed. (Maybe that'd be the PRC way.)

.... Or are people threatening to riot as they don't like the rules that the majority (in a democracy) have accepted? If more than 50% are jabbed, isn't that a kind or referendum on the jab whether one agrees or not?

I dropped a quick email to eve (after my pillow order I have a name) regarding the 'three words' location site, and received a reply at 10.30pm on Saturday night - which is interesting in itself.

Here are some highlights (as nothing is particularly confidential) :

W3W is certainly an interesting service that we have reviewed, but there are no immediate plans to implement at this stage, but as you know with a business like eve things can change! '

'We do actively keep an eye on our Trustpilot feedback and jump on cases where exceptions have arisen, however it's important to note that Trustpilot is inherently geared towards complaints as opposed to positive feedback, and can therefore skew perceptions of the prevalence of issues as a % of total orders. Rest assured we have robust data on the different types of exceptions and their overall share of orders, which we address as an ongoing priority focus as a business. We also have twice weekly calls with our couriers specifically to discuss and root cause these kind of escalations. '

Not a good review and sounds genuine and frustrated.

Now a lost order down to DX c.ck-up. Maybe the address was unclear and DX went to the wrong place, who knows. But still, a phone number to eve would only allow customer to vent frustration to eve and not to DX once delivery had been missed.

The phone number of the customer expecting the delivery for DX driver to call would help. But if they think they are at the right place and no answer at the door would they call? These people work to tight margins and hate delay.

However, if eve had one person on the phone and 20 people call at once (perhaps 18 with minor queries before the two with serious questions, who knows)... There'd be more bad TP reviews saying the phone kept them waiting and then cut them off without an answer. Wouldn't really solve the problem and would be expensive.

I only use delivery people who call ahead so I use a local supplier of electrical goods for my 'buy to let' as they do ring ahead and AO / Curries don't. I pay more for it though, through the price. I won't even use John Lewis.

I'm going to send this suggestion to eve. It's a 3 digit location finder https://what3words.com/pretty.needed.chill (There are probably others.) People might supplement their Postcode and address with the 3 digit location of their front door. It could work if people live in tricky locations though I've also heard mistakes made with it in rescue service situations.

Nov '21 was lower (210) but BF was later in the month. Lets hope that this December gets to.. 400? 500? ... 600?

Incidentally, the total number of TP reviews for 2020 for eve was exactly 3000. Currently we are 2,807. Would be good to smash through 3000 and beyond but we will be ahead of 2020, even with a modest December.
