In a sense a companies managing funds like LGEN and AV. can invest globally and theoretically their shareholders should benefit. However as LGEN have treated their shareholders with more respect than AV. I have moved away from AV. and into LGEN and also MNG.

Got in at 1500p earlier. Am scrabbling for funds to buy more.

2017 when Emma took over I bought my first GSK just before an unexpected fall and got a shock. Then as the price fell I thought sod it and went on buying. It all came good.

Can recall holding some of these in the £12 era. March 2001 paid £11.25 for a few. Should have sold the lot!

Earlier this year I did sell a large slice and was very fortunate to recoup some losses through LGEN and MNG purchases. In that way the dividend cut did me a favour. AV. may look like a good deal but plenty of companies don't smell of over-ripe fish.

The US Democrats were pledging to cut $20bn fossil fuel subsidies. That promise was dropped from the programme.

However, it is now reported the pledge remains: subsidies will be removed under Biden.

Given the size of the oil industry I guess $20bn doesn't go along way but the message sent by a removal is significant.

My theory.

Shell and BP are both towing the renewable energy line to a far greater extent than US fossil providers. This will not sit well with investors over the pond and they are voting with their dollars.

It could take a while before anything changes (except maybe our climate!). If fossil starts getting left in the ground Shell and BP will be the winners..

But hey, DYOR, it's just an idea.

I've a dozen or so monitored stocks, most I own, others I have owned or would like to own.

PRTC I own and have dipped in and out but am in now. I expect volatility in all of them these days. In many cases it just depends on which politician is opening their fat gob. PRTC is a hold for me right now and I am in profit. If it pokes aboves 300 I might reconsider.

Took profits earlier this year and regretted it. Then got back in at 2998 after research. Onwards and upwards... Stick or bust..

AZN has given me a few profits but after my last exit I couldn't see any reason for the escalating share price in comparison with other offerings other than journaiistic hype. So I have been out for quite a while and invested in GSK.

..over 50% gain. Can it last? In a recession? If so, what's it going to be like after the recession?

It makes me nervous!

It's a riskier play than many stocks but in my opinion if you want a degree of risk in your portfolio amongst the duller options then there is good reason to pick OCDO e.g. Steiner has been raising capital at a time of increased demand for OCDO's services and also bought a stake in what has become a leader in robot manufacturing. Generally the future is going OCDo's way.

Not to mention bank shares. One of my better decisions to take losses at HSBA and buy ULVR at 4000. I've not recovered all my losses but they'd have been far worse if I had done nothing.

If the company sells assets in Asia then I'd hope it can use the proceeds to deal with debt.

Whilst it's becoming a trend to reduce or stop dividends I believe Aviva's action was entirely due to compliance with political influence rather than a properly considered management decision.

The new management might prove to have more backbone.

Recently I discovered that the card reader can scan through a plastic screen. Only one retailer I have been to did that.
