Novacyt Share Price (NCYT)

Covid was a one off. Companies always revert to mean share price trajectory over time. This went no where for many years before COVID and without any new groundbreaking high selling products the sales are going to be low as in the past. These share price pumps should have been used by those underwater to sell. It's better to have 10% of something than nothing at all and that will become part of the regret later on - " why didn't I sell my remaining holding...".

Just hoping for a miracle is a lousy investment thesis. Can understand traders but anyone holding long term will most likely see an erosion of value over the next year or two and placing is likely at some point.

If you had 50 k to invest in this share you would be far better off sticking it in an ISA or high Interest paying bank account .

Just like Novacyt should have done with their £143 million pound covid windfall jackpot .

Instead they have nearly spunked the lot.

Redundancies now and placing coming within the next year or so then it will go the same way as Yourgene .

I dont think anybody would be stupid enough to bail yourgene out fir a second time and that is effectively what Novacyt have become .

As a former investor and employee I'm stepping away from NCYT.

The capable PCR company you invested in is now called YouSeq and the former team have a "crazy enough system that it might just work" whereby they make more money than it costs to run a company while making some of the most sensitive and specific PCR tests you can spend money on. They'll be leveraging their capability to react to Ebola or the next problem round the corner. What is left at NCYT is not that.

The niche carving, ground breaking instrumentation company you invested in is gone. Engineers and capability of a David vs Goliath, globally recognised instrumentation company gone to the wind. What is left is not that.

What is lift is a genomic medicine company with a side line in me-too PCR tests. While they're a recognised player they're not market leaders in any segment and even with a reduction in head count they won't be profitable. Their niche doesn't support it.

But stop, ask yourself if you'd invest in Novacyt today. You have 50k and this is your best option? If you would then by all means carry on and I wish you all the best. Will the company be involved in a market where it will grow by two orders of magnitude or more? No, They aren't agile enough to respond to the market quickly enough even if god forbid something on the scale of covid happened again.

Very much do your own research and my opinion is my own. This message group is like a loss porn reddit thread and now I've sold I'll not be coming back. I suggest a few other could do with the same. I'll say it again though, for a lot of people in this thread, the company you invested in isn't there anymore. For the recent investors who are riding the peaks and troughs around 40p, this is volatile enough that you might make a return.

It reminds me of Arthurs conversation with Zaphod in H2G2. Arthur asks "How do they sell the peril sensitive glasses at a loss?" and Zaphod replies "He sells a lot of them..."

NHS staff have been told to prepare for potential Ebola cases reaching the UK amid a fast-growing outbreak of the deadly virus in Africa.

In updated guidance, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has urged hospitals, GPs and frontline services to ensure they are ready to rapidly identify and isolate suspected patients, warning that while the risk to Britain remains low, imported cases are possible.

Healthcare providers have been instructed to check they have adequate supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure staff are trained in its use, alongside clear protocols for managing suspected cases.

Clinicians are being reminded to consider Ebola in any patient who is acutely unwell with a fever and has travelled from affected regions within the past 21 days, reflecting the virus’s incubation period.

Under the guidance, suspected cases must be treated urgently, with patients isolated immediately in a single room and assessed by staff using appropriate protective measures.

Strict infection control procedures are required, and cases must be escalated rapidly to specialist public health teams, as Ebola is a notifiable disease in the UK.

The warning comes as an outbreak of the rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola continues to spread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and neighbouring Uganda, after being declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organisation in May.

The latest figures suggest there have been hundreds of suspected cases and dozens of confirmed deaths, with numbers continuing to rise as testing and surveillance improve.
