RE: Time to buy?20 Jun 2026 12:04
Nick, I told people years ago what a dog this share was, what a con the whole things was.
At that point, well actually it was a few months later, I finally took my own advice and sold out of DEC.
There were so many FTSE 350 companies paying decent dividends at that time, and hitting 12 month and multi-year lows from BATS and IMB to PHNX (now SDLF), CSN, LGEN, even RIO, there was a lot of choice out there. I listed a few of my buys and sells to give a taste of what anyone selling at the lows of DEC at that point in time and taking the hit could have reaped without having to trade endlessly in this dog just to try and get even.
Despite what Terry claims I'm saying these days - pretty impressive given he's got an invisibility cloak thrown over me to protect his fragile ego, I'm not saying anyone should sell up and move on. The simple fact is so many of those shares I've mentioned are at multi-year highs, as well as the market as a whole hitting all-time highs, those who've been idiotic enough to get themselves into a daily trading pattern trying to scrabble a little gain here and there, slaves to their need to prove themselves right, they're stuck now with this dog until it finally lays down and dies. It's the only thing they can do now, given the gains they've missed out on elsewhere.
Terry seems to think he's some sort of trading genius. He's not. He's just another idiot who's convinced himself that it's far better to stick with this, endlessly trading, picking up his dividend of - what ? 4% ? 5% ? on his original investment ? He could instead have taken the hit, and been picking up 10%+ now on an investment in BATS when it was in the low to mid £20s, or taken the dividend and sold out having doubled his original investment, and moved on again. Hell, he could have done that and bought back into this dog, if he's that obsessed with his day trading.
But that's why I come here.
I'm waiting for the day DEC dies, laughing at the fools while I'm waiting for that day and their idea of what success looks like.
🤣🤣🤣
