I agree with this entirely. I do however think the mainstream media will have to change or they will trigger their own decline. Having said that our current dictator is wanting to control what we see and share. Reach, as opposed to itv etc own many small city/town papers which will always appeal for more localised news. They also do own politically diverse titles. So i remain optimistic and in the meantime enjoy the div.

What's extraordinary, is the market thinks this company is done with and eventually heading for the end, but the company keeps reporting good profits and yet again is forecasting results 'in line with market expectations', which are mighty decent.

Having said all that, if you look at the political situation, it seems that no one trusts these mainstream brands anymore and real news can be found at the hands of a youtuber or X, far more accurate and truthful. So it is really over for the mainstream media. Have they authored their own decline by having such contempt for the public in their politically biased reporting and demonising of some activists who turn out to be the real truth tellers.

Beginning to wish I never owned these shares, same with ITV and STV, all dogs in my portfolio.

The big news I'm waiting for on this is the triennial pension revaluation, which should be completed in the next 6 months (by March 2027 at the latest). They have now effectively wound up all but two of their pension schemes - only the nasty MGN and MIN schemes remaining really. Trinity scheme they recently did a buy in, ENSM has done a buy out, WF scheme is in process of being wound up, and EN88 is in surplus and only costing £1m a year into escrow which they may get back.

At their recent annual results they said their schemes were in an *accounting* surplus. So I would not be surprised to see their contributions to the two remaining schemes reduce when they do the triennial valuation.

In any case there is only 18 months more of big pension deficit recovery payments (think v unlikely these will increase given where bond yields are currently) and then the cashflow and valuation of this company starts to look very attractive!

Divi arriving tomorrow - wonder if we'll see some strength from any DRIP schemes reinvesting it.
