Energy....24 May 2026 08:17
"If there is any politician, anywhere in the world, who cares about net zero more than Ed Miliband, it may be Mark Carney. As governor of the Bank of England, he changed its remit to focus on net zero. He became a UN special envoy on
climate action and finance. He put climate at the heart of his book about how to save the world.
And what, as prime minister of Canada, is Carney doing right now? As my colleague Dominic Lawson pointed out, he has scrapped carbon taxes. Abandoned a planned emissions cap. Fast-tracked gas projects. And now he wants to build a pipeline to the Pacific.
He’s not the only one. In Australia the Labor government hasn’t abandoned its climate targets — but it’s also talking about “energy sovereignty” and “secure and affordable gas”. Norway’s government, led by another Labour Party, is spending £1.5 billion to reopen three gasfields that were closed in 1998. Denmark has postponed the closure of its North Sea oilfields."
Opening paragraph from Sunday Times article on energy written by Robert Collville. Reinforces the fact that the UK is being sacrificed by a zealotry long abandoned by people who think. It goes on to say that Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea among others are turning back to coal. If Milliband continues his crusade we are going to be the greenest bankrupt nation the world has ever seen. Have a nice day.
