addicknt - my question is, why do you believe our board would accept the first bid through the door?
You have said that an agreed deal will be tabled. I disagree.
Lastly, any group wanting to table a low ball bid, will probably want to do so if and when they have any hurdles removed....
Do you think that is why BHP or NCM would love to push Mather?????
We need Mather to remain as he has the balls to tell this big guys to fark off.
BBG, I don't. They will sit down and negotiate, which is the way things are done.
Jerry, in the past and in my previous incarnation, it always amazed me when we managed to persuade a board to do it.
Solgold about to ramp up the PR
Either presenting at or attending the following in next couple of weeks
11th Nov Perl Hunt mining conference
15/16th Nov Columbia Gold Symposium
17/18th Nov 121 Mining Investment London
I’m sure they won’t want a situation where they are simply badgered by potential investors as to why the two most important roles in the company aren’t filled …… what’s “really” going on here ?
As someone else in another group said, just sell when Mather sells. He knows the situation inside the company better than anyone, he controls about 20% of the company and he has 90 million odd shares personally. If any bids come in, you'll know whether it's good value and whether to accept it or not by what Mather does.
With 90 million shares do you think he's going to happily accept the mythical 55p offer if he knows full well Solg can resist it and carry on further? He should know how likely financing will be or which other parties might be interested. If he accepts the mythical 55p offer then that says he knows it's the best exit available and Solg rejecting it and trying to carry on independently will end in tears.
Hi rcgl2 I do understand where you’re coming from about Mather / selling, but some might argue that over the years he became too close to the company or even indeed - that he viewed the company as being his own in-spite of its other shareholders. They might argue that because of this, he won’t necessarily be able to take an objective view - if and when the time comes to sell. Who knows - only himself I guess?
But one that is certainly apparent, is that he still has a very sizeable influence on/over the company - for better or for worse, depending on your point of view.
Of course it’s he’s baby that’s why we throw money at him
CD, unlike you to post this sort of thing. A reliable source?
If the cat was out of the bag - surely there’d be significant price action occurring - no ??
rich3r
yep - indeed there would m8y

Yep …. You’d have thought… nice 500k trade though earlier
I think we’re experiencing phantom contractions
WHATS HAPPENING ???
Have you got the maths right there rcgl...?
"he controls about 20% of the company and he has 90 million odd shares personally..."
90 million shares is c4%, so 3.96% as stated on the Solgold website...
DGR Global owns 8.9%
He only 'controls' 16.79% of DGR so he cannot even dictate what they do...
So he has 'nuisance value' and no more...
And "the mythical 55p offer" is just that...mythical...
Do our current board of directors not read this bb and understand shareholder’s concerns and frustrations? A lifestyle company might resonate with some? Is this what this company has become ?
RICH3R,agree , Thursday might be a better day let's see
RK yes you're right 20% was a bit wide of the mark. But if we assume DGR and Tenstar will do what NM wants it's about 17% I think. Either way, it's a decent size chunk of the company so I can't see NM and his associates selling that for a cheap price.
If you look at the pay increases the board have given themselves over the years and the bucket load of free and cheap shares, I'm afraid to say this has always been a life style company, not to mention Mather flying around the world first class on us, going to every mining conference in the world sipping champers. They have just been lucky enough to have stumbled across a very good asset, thanks to Malcom Norris as apposed to anything the board has done including Mather, you could argue he was just in the right place at the right time. It was not even his idea to go to Equador when they were messing about in the soloman islands.
well said Monte. NM has leached on SOLG for his own (and friends) benefit. DGR has been a disaster for shareholders and I for one am glad he got booted off as CEO. Here's hoping there is more to come this AGM that restricts his involvement and hold on SOLG further. Show me 55p!
Blimey I thought my poison was strong ( Glenmore more)
But clearly Not.

Wow, how quick people turn on others Montecristo. So Nick and his team have been there many years building up this resource and other tenements, not living in a first class hotel as they scoured Ecuador, much physical and tiring climbs, walks through humid and sometimes torrential rain.
No, why should anyone get rewards for firming up Alpala and other resources which is now worth many Billions, yes Billions.
So your shares you bought, you happy with a 10% profit? Why should you get more than that? After so many years investing you look for a good return, now add hard sh*tty work on that and hundreds of meetings etc.
Investing in a explorer takes time, sometimes frustration turns on the one’s that did all they could, remember certain companies would like to take this cheap then issues shares which would dilute us to hell, doesn’t matter to them as they would then own the company.
I think Nick did what he could, no one on here will change my mind on that, anyway you carry on as it’s a free BB.

Agreed Mathersfinger if it wasn't for Nick, we would not be in control of Solgold. When BHP wanted 70% of the company for what would be a derisory offer today. BHP would have got their way. Some on here say that BHP was annoyed with the Franco Nevada deal of one percent NSR, but it stopped us being diluted at around 25%.
Nick has been nothing but good for us, and continues to be.
We won't be getting any low bids while he is around, which means no bid, as BHP have said on more than one occasion, there are bargains to be had.
Solgold is not in the bargain basement.
As people often remark lots of news to come, but the next note worthy news I am looking for is the PFS, as then our path will be more understandable. The people knocking Nick are the ones that don't understand about long term investment.
Handsomely rewarded with mega pay rises and confetti shares, that's the point some other people don't inderstand. There's a fine line between being fairly payed and life style company .
