Dear all, is there anyone on this board with experience of the construction industry who can tell me how rising material costs are dealt with in long-term contracts? As all materials are going up n price, does Costain take the hit or are they passed on to customers?

Spending review, billions being used to develop north and south which is the potential reason for the positive creep up in sp. as covid breaks and Brexit deal gets signed this might motor up a bit

They have £100m between short term assets and liabilities, But they appear to constantly be in contract arbitration, with huge penalties. My concern is that unless the physical management team have changed the cycle will continue. £45M one hit costs, when you have a market cap of £120M is huge! Have many times will get burnt and repeat the same mistakes.
Only the very brave here or those on the inside. All in my humble opinion, I have no idea of there pipeline of future contracts.
Not for me, GLA.

What is due September 14th?
Due Sept 14th but, per today's RNS, will include a nasty hit from non-appealable judgment that has gone against the company.

Do we not have interim earnings release today ? Or have I missed it.
Needs more evidence of actual success post Covid, the risk of burning through lots of cash on small margins for contractors is huge
A good ride today would be welcome.

Too wobbly, too much risk not enough profit and easy future for investors to see. Until it really shows it’s churning money out and risk falling off a cliff it may struggle to advance greatly
Looked alright to me but shares down??

Are you still in the share or I thought you had sold out?
No more, I invested in fxpo, divi is climbing all the time, cash levels high and whist the sp has dropped 10% relatively stable and I want that and divi. Expect next increased payment in August, four a year
I can't see Costain falling into that category but they will certainly have to pull their socks up. This is starting to become quite tedious. I agree that we will now just have to sit tight.
I seem to learn something new everyday on how to read the stock market.

Like interserve they’ll be worry that these businesses can go bust pretty quickly especially in this current climate, buying no more, leaving shares at a loss here for however long.
I said to my investor buddy that I can see this hitting 60p and in the space of a week it seems to be heading there. It is going to need some good media reports to stop this slide,. I just hope the accounts are above expectations.

Nice that’s pretty good going. I bought at different prices and have overall done well on this share. I have some old ones at the £1.50 mark which are still here and I’ll leave until whenever they get higher
Hi UNVRKW.
I threw a big £450 k at it. It might have been me causing a bit of a ripple when I first bought it at 38p because I bought 250 k and then the market went wild. Who Knows? I had the good fortune to smell a bargain at 38p and then sold out at 75p taking the view of 'a bird in the hand', and then watched it fall gradually from 95p (ish), and then got back in at 71 pence. I hope the current management team with the help of the new CEO will continue to weed out the unprofitable work (Carillion era), and then make some real headway. I suspect if and when it moves it will do so in biggish increments.

Nice, I have a few in here and holding out awaiting results and any any any progress. Slow burn like the economy and no doubt it will continue like this going forward. The government said they were going to throw tons of money at infrastructure, Costain got HS2 which was positive
Dull as dishwater at the moment.
Hopefully any poor results will be factored in.
Hello. Is there anybody out there?
