At the end of last year I watching every day bt drop , when it hit 135p I said to myself I’ll top up £5000 if it hits 130p.
135p was the bottom.. and it quickly rose.
Missed it. Haven’t and won’t top up again.
“ 3%- this is better than the 2.9% the BT Pensioners will be getting at the end of this month .“
Section A&B will receive 3.1% and section C 5%…
I would imagine that BT have calculated that any appetite for a strike will be low. I also think they will also be banking on the number of lower paid workers - thus better beneficiaries- will ensure any vote will fail.
With worst case scenario workers getting 3%- this is better than the 2.9% the BT Pensioners will be getting at the end of this month .
Interesting comment. With your mindset I'm sure you'll move on to bigger and better things.
Just lost my Job end of Feb 2022 - 24 years service - BT sent work to a Center of Excellence in Hungary for less than half what they pay us here in the UK. My job was (31,700 pa) Our department also got caught up in the Better workplace programme. From when were told in Nov 21 we were losing our jobs the CWU did absolutely nothing! If you remember those on here that work for BT we voted for strike action early 2021 and the CWU bottled it. Good article here https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2021/07/28/tele-j28.htmlAgree with most posts on here it’s a good offer particularly for those on frontline customer services on around £22,000 a year. If you all want the share price to go up then like me it may cost you your job. PJ as already cancelled the Share Save again this year. Bt people on here will need to go with PJ’s vision if not then you will need to leave the business. Also bear in mind that any pay increase will be passed on the the customer ! Can they afford it. ?
Might be the start of Global Services winning back/gaining more European business post Brexit. Shows that the tendering process in Europe is leaning towards impartiality.
Just come across this article in the newspaper.https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1593042/brexit-news-eu-bt-confidential-data-brussels-ont
Sold some shares yesterday with a view to buying back Monday in ISA ,
and the little rotters have only gone and went up.
No worries still got some left already in ISA from last year ( my glass is still half full)
Why should they not strike. The people running this company have been on strike since 1984
Hi Fleccy, I hadn’t realised that all holdings through a broker were on the register under their name. I suspect you’ve mentioned the culprit though,I only use this site Trustnet and Simply Wall Street referencing BT so probably time to update passwords. I remain perplexed as to the payoff for the people who called me but they’re organised for a reason. Interested to see if any of the other users on this board get a call from Jessica B.
Avoiding taking an easy but inappropriate cynical view, that’s actually a very interesting question because it does seem to do exactly that.
Up 18% in last month
Why does the SP look a little stronger every time a strike is threatened?
"Hi Ww,I also hold my shares through one of the large platforms and can’t fathom the scam. However they knew I held shares ,they knew my name and they were trying to get information and when challenged with fact they hung up."
As far as external parties are concerned, you wont appear on the shareholder register, since your broker will be the registered owner. One possibility, is that you've signed up to one of the free financial sites, and listed your shareholdings for monitoring, for example I've registered interest in various stocks on simplywall.st. If you have used free websites for monitoring/analysis, and not used anonymised details, it's possible other parties can track you from the information you've supplied them, using various online tools.
There are constant warnings about data protection, protecting your personal information, and being carefull about sharing information on social websites. Companies like Facebook say their data analytics are anonymised, but registering on various groups, etc, can give others access to more detailed information about you. I got caught out on Facebook many years ago, I was invited to register for shopping discounts with one of the big supermarkets, and registered with my email and mobile number, of course it was a scam and I was bombarded with spam for a long time after; I trusted the invitation as it was through Facebook, so it must be genuine, right? It was before all the publicity about Facebook's less than stellar policing of their paying customers. I didn't lose out financially from my mistake, but I was bombarded with emails and calls for a long time afterward, lesson learned.
Hi Ww,I also hold my shares through one of the large platforms and can’t fathom the scam. However they knew I held shares ,they knew my name and they were trying to get information and when challenged with fact they hung up. In my experience if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it’s normally a duck :-)
Expatwelsh, how very strange, my shares are held on Halifax Sharedealing so they will have to contact them but don’t think they will get much info. Lol
so there are a lot of unfair things in life, just be happy with what you have.
WHAT LIKE YOU ARE ? what a hypocrite you are !!!
Just a warning to watch out for some rip off merchants apparently targeting BT shareholders in this time of potential bids.
I've just had a call from a person calling themselves Jessica Brown apparently representing a firm called Powell Associates.
My number is ex directory so who knows how they got my number but she said that I had been contacted because I am a BT shareholder.
She said her firm was representing a (UK) multi national mounting a hostile bid for BT having secured support from institutions covering 43% of shares issued and was making a first come first served offer to individual investors with a minimum price of £5 and maximum of £15 to secure the remaining 8%..
She said the precise detail of any offer would be available when I had given an e-mail address to receive details of the offer and in return provided details of my holdings for "verification".
When I pointed out that what she proposed didn't appear to comply with Stock exchange take over rules she hung up on me.
I must assume that they accessed my name from the shareholder register so I'm sure they are trying this on to hundreds or thousands of investors with ,I presume, the objective of somehow gathering enough information on a shareholding and shareholder to somehow con a third party into paying them for shares that they don't actually own.
I don't have a clue exactly what is going on but I do smell a large Rat !!
That pay rise won’t even cover the energy increase we should be getting double that ,and don’t forget you probably had your state pension at 65, we won’t get ours to 67 or 68 so there area a lot of unfair things in life , just be happy what you have
Easy to be fooled into thinking these parody accounts are real.
Do they still sell postage stamps?
so because you are struggling to pay your bills others must too arrogant twat
the workers for BT are very ungrateful not accepting the very generous pay-packet offered. We, as pensioners, would like to accept such an offer but that is not possible. I am 80 years old and the government offered me an increase in pension because of my age. How generous, you would say. The sum involved was a magnificent 25p per month!.
It would not buy a postage stamp.
Accept the offer and bow your heads in shame.
Another rare post from me, an ex-BT employee. So, the last time there was a strike (it was all very selective by the union, who, where, when and for how long) not only did I lose 3 days pay, I also lost a minimal amount paid into my pension (and it was highlighted when I retired and took my pension!) What did achieve for me - bugger all. All BT staff thinking of voting for industrial action should think again. Its honestly not worthwhile. I believe the offer made by the company to be fair....well, to the majority. That's my twopennyworth!
By staff grumbling about a pay rise over 4%? There is an option, offer your skills in the wider market place. Incidentally do the shareholders have their lost divis returned this year because of inflationary pressures...of course not. It seems some are totally unaware that there has been a 2 year plus pandemic and a war in Europe.
And if the SP goes in the direction it's gone today when this sort of noise goes on..great.
