I also started in 1998 and am a newgrid as that is what I was moved on to
same crap on the BT board guy is a nutter
If you spend entire company profit on a pay rise then how is the business supposed to grow or survive the less profitable period?
You could use the same argument against dividends
To the folks *****ing about the strikes what else are we meant to do just accept what we are given and watch our standard of living decrease year after year or say enough is enough. It cannot be right that a small minority of people at the top are taking all the cream and leaving nothing for those below not in any decent society some of you wont be happy until the peasants are back in the fields working for a daily allowance of small beer and whatever can be grown on their small patch of land get real people are struggling and companies BT included are making obsene profits. Incidentally the cost of their products has and will continue to rise above inflation so if itss good enough for them its good enough for the rest of us. Profits not pay rises cause inflation the pay rises are required in order to pay the inflated charges being pushed upon us all by the fat cats at the top.
Am not sure what the engineers get paid but imagine around 50k, a contact centre worker around 20k, the offer across the board is 1,500. A strike for a 10% rise would earn the contact worker another 500, but the engineer another 3,500
I wish I earned 50k I am aB2 engineer on the top of the pay grade and my wage is less than 32k before stoppages and I can tell you this is not just about pay the staff are very peed off with management for numerous reasons 1 of which is pay

"Strike ballot falling apart......."
DYOR - anyone care to confirm or otherwise?
As its a secret ballot that has neither closed nor been counted yet I find that somewhat hard to believe
This not all to do with a pay rise it is in fact about Jansen choosing to rip up the rule book and impose rather than negotiate terms and conditions. For many years there has been a good relationship between employees/unions and management Jansen chose to ignore that and walk away from negotiations so if he gets away with this where does it stop. I can tell you the staff are more ****ed off than you and the company think and no it isnt just older engineers it is all the way through the ranks including managers who admittedly have a different union but are voicing their opinions.
so because you are struggling to pay your bills others must too arrogant twat
Fleccy how do you work out 24k as an amazing wage that is what a tm2 earns now on top of their contracted hrs they also have to give up to 2 hrs a day free of charge in travel as well on top of contracted hours. Also you have the added delight that they regularly demand compulsary overtime with practically no notice and bugger all care for peoples personal lifes The company have now started forcing through change without discussion with the workforce and there is a return to bully boy management styles. Perhaps you would like us all to go back to Dickensien management but I can tell you I dont. The workforce are getting totally peed off.
Why dont we all go back to serfdom then and serve a local lord ? It seems to me that would suit a few of the arrogant snobs on this forum. I for 1 will always stick up for my rights and do what I can to ensure my family have a good life.
