Our latest Investing Matters Podcast episode with QuotedData's Edward Marten has just been released. Listen here.
I just wonder how much loose cash GLENCORE has under the floorboards after the SFO raid on its accounts. Could it now still afford a takeover of AAL?
As I hold shares in both companies I find the situation very confusing.
Post Brexit I am astonished by the fact that our mealy mouthed government has become bankrupt of ideas. Labour had the proposal that we should set up a new company for electricity and cut out the European stranglehold connection. This innovative approach has not been taken on board by the Tory party. Why do our electricity profits flow into Europe as before? We have the same approach on our water systems. Seize everything back and cut off the free ride Europe is getting at our expense. Make Brexit work.
I wonder which of the board members made millions out of taking early short positions on this stock. I think there should be an inquiry into transactions on the exchange before the announcement was made.
This is pure DISLOYALTY and could demonstrate how corrupt our society has become. Supposition is, that they might have used the names of family members to cover their deceit.
We, ,the shareholders bear the loss. Ha ha! We demand an enquiry.
Also examine Baring's position. iT BSEEMS TO HAVE DIRTY FINGERS IN THE ANNOUNCEMENT.
This is a total manipulated scam to ruin a splendid firm.
I agree that the London market needs a good kick up the behind. it has conjured up a siege mentality that thinks the only way to make profit is to short stocks. This is a flawed strategy which only produces a home goal and plays into the hands of Frankfurt and other foreign markets. As we are buried in a world market grave, capital is flying out of London at a fast rate.
Part of the problem is that the wisest owls are retiring and their wealth of experience is disappearing. Calculations are falling into the hands of young reckless minds, hastening the downward spiral, producing a culture of ineptitude and scattetred computer projections, consequences as yet unproven.
We sadly need a reversal of mindset before we vanish completely. I only have the experience of 60 years in the market and find it very hard to be optimistic under the present disintegrating regime.
They are ignoring the fact that POLY4 is shortly, after its marathon run, coming to market. This will bring a mighty boost to the share price and I, like many others, shall welcome POL4 fertilisers beaming on the shelves of every garden centre in the UK.
Frazer was wrong about the length of time it would take to tunnel our way home. This has been a big strain on the AAL coffers but should keep the share price floating round the pinnacle of the world markets.
We have all been hit by the recent silly statement , when all that was needed was 'We shall react promptly to changing market conditions.'
Some company members can't keep their mouths shut. Sack them or greatly reduce their salaries for the blunder they have made.
A small cut in production is not the same as the company going broke. The reserves are still in the ground. They are safe and do not vanish.
Very bad handling of the situation by disloyal stupid management.
This is a firm which employs very skilled workers doing very dangerous and life threatening work. I am sure that most of its workers in situ are local. It is unfortunately being persecuted by the SFO office and as a result has lost its market value. it is time for FTSE stocks to unite and take punitive measures against this mafia who are getting fat on robbing British companies. I still think that some Arab concern is sitting on the sidelines waiting to gobble up PFC for nothing.
Get in first.
It is a pity that the newspapers and politicians are not aw3are of the damage that the SFO is doing to the brightest of our companies.
I condemn them. The latest throve of cash from GLENCORE has kept a bunch of Uriah Heaps still ribbing their hands in glee.
Our legal system is totally corrupt but nobody seems to notice it. As an extra thought, how much money has the legal mafia extorted from the government in the defence of illegal invaders? It is us, the tax payers, who innocently bear the crippling cost.
We have no valid. reputation for standing on the high ground. We pillaged Africa, India, and many other countries. Our hands are bloody with the amount of money we earned from the slave trade. .Also we set up the first concentration camps for the Boers. Now we have reverted to Drake's piracy. Good old Queen Bess!
We work with the oil industry where it is customary to offer bribes.
All I can say is "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."
This happened when the fraud squad first. pillaged Glaxo. it took a long time to recover, The same thing occurred when Glencore was first raped. Its share price has never really recovered from the blow.
Only years later it was raped again. It was a soft touch.
No wonder Francis Drake got a knighthood. This government instigated corruption started with Queen Elizabeth the First.
Successful British companies are an easy target. it is called shooting yourself in the foot.
