Amazing ongoing positive PR campaign on Twitter. Hopefully the message is getting out and opinions regarding this socially aware miner are becoming well known.
Key Points
Kwale Operations has maintained operational consistency throughout the quarter with health and safety protocols in place to minimise the risk of COVID-19 to personnel and surrounding communities. Ongoing demand from customers in the quarter supported a steady price environment for all products. Additional prospecting licence applications lodged in the Kuranze region of Kwale county. Discussions with the Government of Madagascar on fiscal terms progressed, including submission of the formal application for LGIM certification (the large-scale mining fiscal and legal stability regime). Lender technical due diligence for the Toliara Project largely complete. Activities to support vulnerable local communities affected by COVID-19 in Kenya and Madagascar continued. Maiden dividend of AUD 3.5 cents per share determined, unfranked, following a strong financial performance in FY20. With greater clarity on the risks and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, US$50.0 million was repaid from the US$75.0 million revolving credit facility drawn earlier in 2020.
African mineral sands producer, Base Resources Limited (ASX & AIM: BSE) (Base Resources or the Company) is pleased to provide a quarterly operational, development and corporate update.
This is the process we have followed to recover withheld tax from San Leon Energy registered in Dublin. Takes months and is very laborious.
I think I’m nearly there but still waiting for final settlement.
Here are all the steps. Will this be the same for BASE!
Firstly you have to get the form to claim the refund---------the link is below..
-
-Then you will need a Certificate Of Residence from HMRC---the link is below.
-
-Then you will have to go to your Broker/Intermediatory and get from them a Consolidated Tax Certificate for SLE (you may have to pay for this about £10--£20 depending on who you are using.
-
-When you have the CTC, and the CoR,-- send them together with the form to the DWT dept in Ireland --(the address is on the bottom of the form).
-
-If you have done all this correctly, eventually the ITA will contact your Broker/Interm and ask for a Block Dividend Voucher.
-
-Once they receive this, then you should get paid.

I see the Co have been active on Twitter showing their ethical concerns.
I’m looking forward to the big payout next month.
Really like the way this company is being managed.
Revenue & profit flat vs 2019 even with 3-6mths of subdued demand.
This is currently trading on P/E <5 and now paying a dividend.
My notes to myself when I first bought in Nov ’19 were"some Life of Mine concerns ; Africa play should double to 30p if new project succeeds" ... topped up when it dropped below 10p and see no reason to doubt my observations from last year.
A great little stock to have tucked away in the portfolio
rutile and zircon prices down
ilmenite up
nothing more than a hold
Hi guys, here is our recent interview with Base Resources MD Tim Carstens: https://youtu.be/fClZYcqCY-8
Everything appears to be going well, except for the share price. It is half of what it was when we spoke to them in Oct 2019. This has likely been caused by two things:
1. The high-grade, high-margin project in Kenya is coming to end of life and the returns will drop. There is a second lower-grade project commencing but will be less rewarding. They need to spend time and money on exploration and development to ensure kenya continues to contribute revenues and profit rather than just stand still
2. Uncertainty over Madagascar as a mining jurisdiction, given ongoing discussions with the government over terms on the royalty and taxes. We feel this will resolve itself and possibly by the end of the year. The financing is not yet in place for new flagship asset, Toliara, but should not be an issue, however, the cost of the finance, given the faltering start to the project, may have just gone up.
Only the terms of the agreement with the madagascan govt will tell.
Technically, this is a simple and relatively low capex business. Castens is a straight talker and he thinks he has a clear path towards getting Toliara into production and driving up the largely institutionally-held stock. The only thing that is uncertain is the timeline, and if Kenya can return to darling status.
Let us know your thoughts!
Well this is a quiet board! Took a small position here today, but really struggled to get a quote. In at 9.4p.

WHY SHOULD YOU INVEST?
John Meyer, head of research at SP Angel, said :
‘In Kenya the company operates in a remote location and is able to work through the coronavirus pandemic. And the closure of rival mines may serve to keep the market tight for some time.’
DYOR and keep well.

.
Quite ridiculous that this stock has essentially flatlined for the past six months at 13.2p.
I guess everything depends on The Toliara Project - if that shows mineable assets which the company can afford to extract then this doubles, if not then it depends on somebody with the cash resources wishing to buy the mining rights
2020 production forecast is about 20% down on this year but even if that translates to a drop in net profit to $25m that still makes this a reasonable investment to wait and see
